• Singe classed Rogue
• Use a hand crossbow
• Get crossbow expert at level 4 (or with V.uman)
• Get sharpshooter at level 8/10 (or at level 4 or 8 if you’re a V.uman)

Make your race variant human for that sweet Linguist, and use your single ASI for Prodigy and you’re golden :^)

There are only two feats who can give you languages and picking human means that you will miss a language compared to the three-language classes since they’re common +1 and you can’t re-pick Linguist and Prodigy

Nope, you can multiclass whenever you want, you just need to meet the stat requirement for both your current class and the one you want to multiclass into. (but multiclassing before level 5 is awful unless you’re a sorcadin or looking for a juicy h e x b l a d e d i p)

You could also make a custom class/race/whatever if it wouldn’t fit your needs by the DM’s guide.
If you invented it, it is homebrew. Bgs are almost impossible to make broken by following the guidelines, but it is still homebrew.

It’s not an optimized build. You’re going to be 6/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/1/11/1/1/2/2/2/2/3/3. You would gain feats by 4th and 8th levels regardless of class afaik to use the same logic of proficiencies

It’s not homebrew if it’s in the PHB. It’s customization parameters, like picking a subclass. (Though if you choose to make the feature with the DM, yeah it’s homebrew, but using an existing one and picking skills and tools/languages is just customization)
