Autocorrect exists big freaking deal
You know exactly who I meant
But do we really want to be friends with people like that? I can’t believe that was the response, esp. since THEY started on Kickstarter.
I have no clue how far ToL was in development at the time, but is is possible they thought you were a scam, to be fair.
hm.
No way, at the time we had a pretty professional trailer made. Our gfx looked like playdough, but it was very official and well-thought out with a giant Wikia. The Kickstarter, itself, took us over 6 months to plan and it was a beautiful ks page (found here). Either way, I’ve never seen anyone so rude. For example, when I talked to Mafia Universe admins, they welcomed us with open arms – Thingyman, I believe his name was.
I think what happens is that we expose the roots of the genre while “other games” pretend they are the first of the genre. Perhaps this intimidates some people.

Capitalism is cut-throat, xblade. Not everyone is as courteous as you are
I don’t believe anyone would have thought ToL would be a scam by looking at the Kickstarter page.
I DO think there is a big opportunity in the market for an alternative electronic social deduction game similar to ToS, and many others (obviously Imperium42) have realized this as well. Now it is a race to the top.
I like Throne of Lies. It’s a little quirky with its graphics and executions, but the gameplay is solid and no game is ever the same, allowing for a ton of replayability with relatively minimal effort.
tmw conversions help the game to be more replayable lol
As long as we don’t get too competitive, ToL will always have that going for it.
-communism intensifies-
They might not have though it was a scam, but thought it was going to fail and didn’t want to bother with it.
Well…
They were probably like “oh fuck another social deduction game we should discredit them immediately”
Definitely more in line with Jammy here ^
