Areténa snaps their fingers and teleports to the courtyard, where a large fountain, previously dry, is filled with water. They wave their hand over the fountain, and the bottom of the fountain recedes, descending lower and lower until at last the fountain is so deep you can barely see the bottom.
They bind a sword to DatBird’s arms – not a sword you’ve seen before, not the one used in the murder, if it can truly be called a murder – and throw him into the fountain. His corpse floats on the water at first, but the weight of the sword begins to drag him down, and he slowly descends into the deep blue waters of the fountain. As he falls through the water, he fades from view, his eyes still open in the feigned shock of death.
Finally, he reaches the bottom, and stops moving. For a moment, you seem to see a light radiating from where his body lies; when the light fades, his corpse has vanished.
