what if
DR was made more into a turbo game
and the game finishes after 1 mistrial

And we made one character talk like Shaggy

and you replace the bear with kermit the frog

Fuck
I want to play a Scooby Doo misc

After being in that same VLDR-esque game, I vastly prefer DR

Maybe my experience was diminished by timezones/an annoying role, but still.

It sounds so good holy shit

and you can only win by becoming the blackened
everyone loses when player count drops below X

no mastermind needed, no final trial needed, incentive to kill
boom, DR turbo

the game actually becomes people trying to get away with a murder, in its purest form

Ideally host would be
online when you were online

your role also had no agency
so like
ye

I blame that on the hosting / roles rather than the formula

Tbh I think DR should take more of an RP direction because that’s where it really shines

if it’s just
a straight up rp
that’d be the shit

i think the game is built in a way where this is perfectly feasible?

what kind of direction would you take to make it better for this

cause imo the biggest factor for rp is the playerlist

Scripted/Semi-Scripted DR RP? :flushed:

Thinking about it for longer than 5 seconds, this would suck.

Thinking about it for longer than 15 seconds, you can probably still make it work.

consider
16p

it’s not going to work well at all

a consideration: for manifold reasons, I am considering making DR6 12p and having 4 murders instead of 5 murders, to make the game more concise and limiting burnout

who would be mad about this

reasoning for this: one of the most pervasive problems in DR is that it goes on for too long and players experience burnout. in addition, it is a lot, lot harder to design a 16 player game in which every single player and True Ending combination feels meaningful. 12 is still hard, but more manageable.

i agree that ideally we’d have 16 or 15, since that’s the number from the source material, but given that I’m testing out a novel concept here, making a smaller, faster, more focused game might overall benefit the format. if it works out well, we can probably go back to 16p without issues

i want this game to be good and while saying that 4 less people get to experience it directly… kinda sucks, I hope that with the tighter map and design space allowed by a smaller playercount i can make a game that captures the full feeling of DR even with less players.

I don’t plan on playing this one I don’t think

I can’t commit to cohosting (although I’ll help if I can) but if you’d like someone to even just help with the design I’d be down

you’re trying out something new, so i think this is perfectly reasonable
