Luna, you should help me host Fyre instead of running this game that totally doesn’t sound like it’s going to be genuinely interesting /s
okay but Ici
are you actually going to host this
despite the fact you said you wouldn’t host a game like this for over a year :^)
one final advantage: motive-wise, you can give purely-flavour motives, but some players may have their True Endings activated by receiving the flavour motive
Ultimate Moworal Compayayass
yes
in over a year :^)
i mean i am willing to cohost, just not mainhost
Bold of you to assume I can keep my pride in check long enough to allow someone else to attempt to take over :^)
but for example, you could receive a motive which is like: “We know your darkest secret and will reveal it in 48 hours if you don’t kill someone by then”, and some players could have their True Ending unlocked when they learn that someone knows their darkest secret, for example, activating murderous True Ending conditions.
this will generally make the game more flavourful since the motivation of the characters now has a serious influence on gameplay even if the players aren’t roleplaying
if were worried about game design why are we even trying to fix DR
because while the game is, fundamentally, jank, it can be interesting and playable jank rather than inconsistently good jank
people enjoy playing DR and the concepts around it
the fact that DR5 worked was a miracle
i’m not downplaying the work we did to make it functional
but there was a great deal of luck involved in the game’s success
the aim is to create a game that, while still a weird semi-RP hybrid game from the depths of hell for weebs and nerds, is more playable as a game rather than merely relying on the fact that it’s That Game Series People Liked With The Evil Bear
i absolutely love this
especially the part about how the lore can be involved in finding out winconditions based on motivations
i don’t think this is true
you can still fuck with the evidence, you can try to win by screwing over the trials rather than just trying to survive to the end
but admittedly a lot of players aren’t confident enough to do things like this, or aren’t given the correct circumstances
in dr4 i was confident enough to do some fuckery, but it still depended on people being inactive
nonetheless i still think mastermind is quite bad overall because it depends too much on the player
DR4 is the closest the Mastermind came to being interesting (good work, Arctic), but that game had a number of flaws, namely horrific inactivity and overall weirdness due to the overall Ms. Marshal’s Wild Ride nature of the game.
DR2 is what happens if you make the Mastermind have too much influence on the game. You get Kunaigeddon. Which was hillarious, I will admit, but it was also Not Good on many levels.
I didn’t even influence the game myself
It was all the Traitors
the main problem with DR4 was probably the premise that it was actually like DR in that people didn’t know what they signed up for
and as a result were less interested in playing the game
if there’s no MM you should
probably just re-flavor the game
first impressions tho
If there’s no player as the MM you can just have the MM be someone else in the lore
You can also tie it to some other players lore as well, no?
