Emotional stress in Fol/FM

ToL is the same every time. I’m always up for trying something different. Then again you have basically triple the hours of me so I wouldn’t be surprised if you never got tired of ToL.

I would also like to point out that in a social deduction game, faking anger or anguish can be key to winning.

See my case on Math in VCFM for a good example of acting absolutely pissed the hell off when I wasn’t leading directly to my team’s victory.

At the end of the day, any game based mostly on social interactions that involve direct accusations is going to feel personal. That’s part of the appeal in the first place, as I’m sure you’d all agree. The important bit is that, when the game ends, we can all come together and move on to play again.

How things effect peoples mental health differs quite a bit from person to person. Your personal anecdote speaks for yourself, and while I don’t discredit it or invalidate it, I feel like you’re missing something.

It’s not whether or not feeling hurt over what someone said is the main cause of suicide. You’re right, in most cases it isn’t. But I can speak from first and second hand experience that these seemingly insignificant things can certainly add up over time, and absolutely be the straw that broke the camels back for some people.

As for the topic of “What should I do”, I really do think that if you’re getting stressed out, sitting a few games out could do wonders for your mental health. Otherwise, remind yourself that these deathtunnels aren’t directed towards you as a person, Priestess, but your role/actions in the game.

Seriously though, mental health is no joke. Please take care of yourself!

This is sooo true! :3

I’m always for people taking breaks

Been encouraging it for years

Not saying mental health is a joke I’m just saying if you have big mental health issues you should be avoiding fm

Yeet
I took one and returned this year!

why does the BMG link in your profile not exist?

You put that really well. There are just lines that shouldn’t be crossed, and I’m afraid it has to be analyzed case-by-case by a well put together mod team. Sometimes people really go too far, even if it’s intentional.

I know I’m not saying anything new here.

Make peace! And Love!

The second half of the post wasn’t directed towards your quote, apologies if you thought otherwise. They were directed towards the original post.

Edited the message to clarify that.

Protection from people skimming account info

Ok

That’s fine I just think we shouldn’t be blaming people who may get a little angry from time to time. I’ve been harassed over fm before.

I’ve dealt with drama before because of it I don’t advise people put themselves in a situation if they can’t handle it but that’s why I suggested warning newer players.

No. Just no. I guess “a little angry” is your wording for what a mess of toxicity was normal on this site, quite some months ago. And no, that was not okay.
“Don’t play if you don’t want to get (hard) insulted” is like the last thing I’ve ever wanted to tell a newbie.

Then you want people with mental health issues to get insulted got it.

Toxicity doesn’t = getting mad from time to time people have been mad at me from time to time it happens in fm it’s a real thing.

Wrong direction. Toxicity is not okay and will never be okay.
But we are not talking about toxicity. We are talking about (hopefully) accidentally making other players feel terrible IRL.

I don’t think we should blame people for getting heated in a game like this (or ToL) either. It happens, it’s natural. There’s a fine line though. When “getting heated” turns into nothing but personal attacks and toxicity, that’s when I see a problem.

This part isn’t directed towards anyone in particular: I can actually speak from personal experience here when I say that I’ve certainly been prone to being very toxic when I was frustrated. This is something I’ve bettered over time, but the first step I took was simply rereading my posts. Would I want someone to say that to me? Would it potentially offend me? Backspace that.

We’re on forums. We have the power of typing, where we can revise and edit before anyone sees what we say.

also this totally wasn’t supposed to be a reply to you orange, my bad
