[Faction Suggestion] The Brotherhood w/Classes

Read…

do they go up 1 in rank when you recruit another? you never explain.

if the brother breaks the rules and then dies, the brotherhood can never kill again. If all the neutral killers are also dead, then the brotherhood can’t advance until a member dies. At this point, blue dragon will just take their sweet time finding all the brothers and then killing them all at once. This will make games very long and boring, and prone to draws.

Oh for the love of Mithras.

The Brotherhood can recruit up to 3 players. Giving them a Cap of 5 players within their group.

Initiate becomes Disciple

Disciple becomes Brother

Brother can kill and become Broken

They will constantly promote as they recruit. There is no limit to how many of each per game but at a time, there is only 1.

There will never be two initiates at one time. Etc etc etc.

I don’t want them to Kill at all, but for balance, I’m giving them very limited kills.

This is a pacifist faction that relies on gaining control of the votes.

then give some of them vote manipulation abilities

I just finished a Brotherhood Forum of Lies game where they almost won with their current abilities. If they are allowed to manipulate votes, it would be obvious to BD what’s going on and they would instantly wise up.

The best way to control votes is to not manipulate them.

if you gave them abilities to control votes, they could choose to use them or not. this faction’s goal is literally to just survive long enough to have more members then the blue dragon.

Or give them abilities that they can use to deceive the Blue Dragon.

Like Psychic Announcement.

Or False results.

Or Occupy.

By popular demand, I bring you my original draft for The Brotherhood Lore!

The Rise of the Brotherhood

Many moons passed after the disappearance of the Unseen and the banishment of the Cultists. It seemed as if there was no more threats to the crown. However, that peace was short lived. Late one night, Castle Adiart was infiltrated by dangerous brothers who made their way into the court and blended with them. A Constable had travelled from a far land to inform Castle Adiart that he had tracked these brothers to the castle and requested a warrant to check peoples rooms to find these two brothers.

Little did he know, it was a harder task than anticipated. The brothers spread around their propaganda throughout the castle, recruiting their own little army, calling themselves The Brotherhood. The first brother, was an Infiltrator, dressed in royal clothing during the day and a cloak at night. Many wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. The other, was his Associate, wearing a set of armour under a robe of silk. It wouldn’t take long for somebody to recognise he wasn’t a part of the castle’s regular guests.

At night, the Infiltrator would go to people’s rooms and spread his word of pacifism and would seek to end all killing. If the Infiltrator could not accomplish this, they would be abducted by the Associate and forced into silence and join the Brotherhood.

The recruits would begin as an Initiate, who were sent to hide in somebodies room to learn more about them. Upon a new recruit, the former would become a Disciple, who would be given special powder to confuse their enemies and even extra trinkets to hide around the castle. The last promotion was to become a Brother. The highest ranking member of the Brotherhood, they were given tools to lock doors or spy on people.

Tales amongst the Brotherhood told of a Brother who once broke their sacred oath of pacifism. They were cast out but still considered one of them, they were named Broken. As in, Broken Promise. While the Broken was somebody who would do the Brotherhood bidding as a murderer, it didn’t sit right with the Brothers. So they would not offer any form of protection.

The Brotherhood were truly powerful in court. Their eventual mass of numbers would be able to control any vote at court, lest the Constable could help it.

However… The Brotherhood wasn’t the only threat. As another would seek to ruin their dreams of pacifism. The Butcher had followed the Brothers too, in hopes to catch them off guard.

  1. why did you include butcher here?
  2. are you planning to change constable to be like the new sheriff/paladin where they are no longer unique or convert immune?
  1. Why wouldn’t I include Butcher here? Butcher was originally a Brotherhood only NK until I reworked it.
  2. No.

Recommendations:

  1. one of them should be able to send a crier’s message
  2. the associate should be able to make a player think they were attacked and healed, this way people might think it is unseen game (the associate currently doesn’t have much of a use but as a stand in for infiltraitor)
  3. another outcast ability:

Slide weapon
Day, 1 use
You will slide a weapon to the selected member of the brotherhood, which they will warily except. If the constable uses stake out on them the next night, they will kill the constable then kill themselves from the guilt of it.

Surprisingly I think you actually have some good suggestions there. Thought you were normally just critical. Pretty impressed

It raises a lot of questions lorewise though.

Like, why the Broken doesn’t kill himself when he breaks his oath.

why do you think he can only kill a little?

the emotional stress is to much for him to do it more, but he is able to rationalize not killing himself after all his kills. The other brothers, however, are not able to rationalize as well.

Honestly, there should be a faction where it is just killing.

I mean, it’s massively OP, but I’m curious if it will work.

Like an Insane faction.

Oh I know A Neutral role that drives everyone mad.

I won’t be making anymore changes to The Brotherhood until after the next Brotherhood game.

More details to come.

Plex, I know you won’t do it any time soon, but I think brotherhood is good.

My only problem is that it doesn’t have enough deceiving. I like the fake psychic shout, and so I thought a similar ability would be a crier.

That’s actually the one criticism I have of the Reverent. Not much deception on his end.

I won’t be adding a Crier type ability to anyone, I can assure that.

I also don’t want anymore killing Power on any of the Brotherhood, I’ve stated that I didn’t ever want any Killing power until recently.

Currently, Brotherhood is rewarded with further deceptional skills upon recruiting.

Plant, Confuse Powder are powerful abilities for one person to have, I would almost consider Disciple overpowered but with the lack of Kill power early makes up for the balance.
