I’ve never understood this logic. Are you trying to tell me that there are people out there who just… don’t read the setup as town? How the hell do they know what they’re even signing up for? Or are you saying that wolves are somehow paying more attention to the game rules, like they’re trying to figure out how far they can take their play without getting banned? I don’t think it’s an issue of “not slipping” because not knowing game mechanics doesn’t lead to a scumslip, not knowing the mechanics of the role you claim would be a scumslip. Anyone who professes not to know some component outside of the role they’re claiming, and instead related to the game mechanics themselves, is not being alignment indicative in that moment because scum can just as easily skim the game thread hoping that their scummates will catch them up on important thing that they might have missed. Town is actually more likely to read the game thread closely, because they don’t have scummates to help them out. Honestly, when do we start saying that not reading the thread is wolfy? That would be a welcome change of pace, we might reach the mythical promised land of a game where everyone knows the setup.

Orange, I’m going to simultaneously point out that you’re being a prick for critiquing the reads of a sleep-deprived person in the middle of a breakdown on the grounds that they’re typoing and it’s not pleasant for you to read, and townread you because no wolf with any sense of consciousness would see that other people are getting annoyed by this and would knock it off, so you clearly don’t care one bit about how others perceive you.
The net result of all this is a slap upside the back of the head, not out of anger, but in an attempt to say “Get your act together, damnit.”

So what I’m seeing from Astand’s posts, their opener was “don’t investigate me”, they threw down a vote not really giving a reason behind it, townread someone for a similar lack of reason, and got really defensive when pushed on for more before basically saying that they weren’t gonna try D1.

It was an attempt at one because that post felt really off to me, but like the last time I tried to make a read in this thread, everyone says that the read is wrong and then calls me wolfy for not giving useful reads.

Okay, but I don’t mind people saying that the read is bad. I don’t play FM terribly often, let alone a mash, I’m not terribly put out if someone contradicts a read that I have because they know that player better. What’s annoying me is when people go “Oh, Tan’s not really making any deep reads, she’s wolfy” when the same people are the ones telling me that the reads I do try to make are wrong and there isn’t a point to pursuing them.

Kat, could you restate your case against Vulgard so that even a rube could understand it? I feel like it’s comprised of a bunch of littler reads scattered across this whole ass thread, and I’d very much prefer it if we can summarize the case of Vulgard into a few posts so that we don’t keep dwelling on it.
(Plus the 33 pillars thing makes me kinda think Vulgard might have TMI, and you might convince me that he’s wolf if you have good logic behind it.)

He’s townreading Marl by saying that that response doesn’t come from a wolf Marl, unless Marl is aware of the impression others might have that this behavior is Marl’s town meta and so he’d consciously do it as wolf. And yeah, hedgy as fuck, he basically punts the question of “does Marl do this as mafia” to others so that they do the work and he doesn’t have to dig into this one.
