if it wasn’t then they would have spent more
How?
No because they don’t how much you want to deny them, hence the wifom element.
They don’t need to care. The amount of value you can remove from them is known to them because they arbitrarily chose it when they placed a bid.
Nuclear I think you might be forgetting that people can sell their abilities if they are useless to them.
Sold ability’s are added to the pool. I am not forgetting anything.
Psycho it’s honestly fine I wouldn’t try convolute it. Having some items only good for some factions make a super interesting dynamic.
An unused ability is worth 5 tokens, so people can bid on one of them to deny them from the other faction and could also get a profit if they paid less than 5 tokens.
Im also thinking about changing it so everyone gets 5 tokens every day instead of only 3. What do you guys think?
It really doesn’t
Both of these would not be happening at the same time.
As I said, there will be a cap to those kind of abilities which means they will be less common than abilities that help every faction.
That is irrelevant unless the cap is 0. They will still spawn and they will still be boring in comparison to ability’s that have uses for everyone (but more uses for some people)
Also, I added many abilities that can counter this, such as abilities that remove an ability from the pool and abilities that tell you which players have placed a bid on a certain ability.
Again. It doesn’t matter. If anything that second one just makes it worse as now NO ONE will go for scum ability’s after someone takes that one (unless a scum took it)
Taking a scum ability is low risk medium reward and trying to outbid mafia doing this is high risk low reward.
Making it somewhat useful for town makes it’s reward higher. It doesn’t make it as good as taking something that is useful for everyone but it is enough to spark WIFOM where before it was all chance.
How about adding a new mechanic to the game?
Reroll: Whenever you get a new ability, you can pay tokens to change it for a random one.
- You cannot reroll passive abilities.
- You cannot reroll abilities if you have used at least 1 charge.
- The first reroll is free, but the price increases by 3 tokens for every reroll.
- You cannot get golden abilities when rerolling.
- If you reroll a golden ability, you will get 2 common abilities instead.
This would actually give a reward to players that use their tokens to deny an ability that would otherwise be useless for them.
While that would solve the problem it might cause problem if either X was too high on those niche ability’s or if it was too low on all of the other ones. Maybe make X dependent on the ability and have it give you another ability of the same value?
I was thinking on making X start low but increase each time you reroll.
