Marshal’s flip still doesn’t take Chloe out of my scum list, but it make me second guess some things.

they’ve been acting slightly different post-ritual but id like to see them post more content before i say for sure whether or not they got converted

The fact that it was last minute doesn’t magically make it impossible for it to be a bus? In my book, late vote changes from a wolf off a villager are generally more likely to be busses or distances, not less.
And I think they’re a wolf and always were a wolf, because Apprentice’s play was so divorced from the theoretical possibility of him being a villager in a lot of the implications.

but i just think you’re wrong and that their play makes little sense as starting wolves with marshal
Like, we have an inactvie, nothing-y wolf, and you’ve just gotten a convert and people have realistically no idea who it is, and there’s a villager as the top wagon. That’s the ideal time to distance???

so run me through the mindset of a Kyo/Apprentice/Marshal starting scumteam and why the play makes sense
Because Apprentice is a nothing-y wolf who lots of people have vague suspicions on, so it makes sense to bus them. Done. It makes sense.
in that world Apprentice put himself into a thunderdome with both Kyo and Marshal
IIRC simultaneously, I forget exactly when Marshal rescinded his BM claim
