Every time you have chosen, instead of being like “oh shit, my bad”, to be like “these rules are dumb, it’s a trap made to harm ToL players, I was right to break them”

in my first FoL I made a comment about another ongoing game (that I wasn’t in) because I didn’t realize that the rule against discussing ongoing games extended to players who weren’t in them

I solved this by … not doing it anymore … rather than insisting that I had the right to break the rules

Yes and I stand to it. When I know it wont give me an advantage for the game and the other person wont pass info on, I dont see a problem in it.

outside communication(even teaching newbies what things mean) does directly help them

Newbies are heavily in the disadvantage, giving them some help does not much damage.
Of course you cant give them your own reads, and you cant do it when you are spoiled already.

In ranked chess: you are playing to win
In unranked chess: you give your enemy tips or let a third party give him tips. You play to improve, not to compete

That sounds… illegal. You cannot prohibit me from talking with my family about something very stressful for me. And definitely you cant prohibit minors from doing so.

You have to protect yourself and minors as well. FM can lead to severe mental stress. And THAT is always more important than some stupid “yea dont speak with your best friends about what stresses you” rules.
I had that problem myself. The solution is always: your mental health is more important.

Idc about if I broke rules or not, I just know a lot of people are playing in a grey area, and was intereated to see how grey it is in real.

Literally none of the above are productive, helpful, or apologetic, and I have yet to see anything from you that would lead me to believe you understand that the rules apply to you as much as they do to everyone else. In fact, your tone would lead anyone to see you as thinking you are above the law, and all to happy to rub that into others’ faces. Again, if this is not your intent, you really need to work on what you choose to say.

But its also a thing hosts can do, you dont have to step in. Its also a thing other players in game can do. Its also something they can look up. We arent mean to newbies
