[Game Thread] Meowntainado (4/14) - Day 5 - Mafia Wins!

also I’m here now

min

a big surprise to me tbh

I think I’ve improved a bit this game honestly, so I’m satisfied.

Surprising, although alts do change people significantly

i deleted some of her posts while she was mid-convo and complained about how its somehow difficult for people to keep uninformed spec chats uninformed and not spew their alignments after subbing out

it was fun to let emilia mess around a bit lol

GGs, I thought it was fun to watch people play Mountainous (one of my more favorite setups) on here. Would have maybe replaced in if I wasn’t finishing up a 7:2 mountainous game on my home site.

Arctic continues to impress me. As people have said already, the goal isn’t to make yourself the most townie as scum; it is to win. And he did that with flying colors.

True. He did.

I can’t argue against that.
Be an obvious wolf and endgame.

Agreed tbh

Arctic is incredibly fun to watch play and one of the best ‘newbies’ (though I guess he’s not really new anymore, huh) I’ve seen - constantly improving too. You could tell he was internally dying but he kept his head up and stayed relatively calm for his team.

Dude is a natural. Good stuff

@Marshal

You obviously did a good job of reading the wolves, given that you had reasonably well-reasoned scumreads on two out of three wolves. Also, you dying night 1 is generally a good sign; we wouldn’t have killed you if you weren’t playing well.

I’m probably going to regret saying this next time I rand W and/or wolfy town, but I would say the biggest thing you could have done better is being more willing to kill people you know are strong villagers. Like, my slot had two easy-to-read players in it and both of us were playing nothing like we do as town. Not wanting to kill a townrete is understandable, but at some point the odds of townrete start being low enough to make it worth the gamble.

I would say the biggest reads you were wrong on were Aelin, Emilia, and Cabbage. I can’t really fault you for being wrong on Aelin, she was playing to her wolf meta and a ~fine day 1 elim. The biggest issue with the Emilia read was that you were relying too much on out-of-date meta (at least that’s why I assume you were townreading her?) I just checked and I’m … honestly not totally sure what your case on Cabbage was, you did mention the fact that they were ‘trying to post what they think town would’ but I’m not totally sure why you thought that, and you brought up wagoncomp (which was a ~reasonable point in terms of the composition of the wagon, just, you overweighted it because the wagons were V/V).

I can’t really blame you for the fact that village ignored basically every part of your legacy, in my experience it’s really hard to get people to listen to your legacy, but I think it would probably have been good to, while alive, reach out to other villagers to try to persuade them of your towncore. In particular, you were correctly shielding both Gorta and Mist, both of whom ended up getting misexe’d and both of whom you probably could have compellingly explained reasons to townread.

No you didn’t

I lynched cabbage

Oof I just realized I had some correct reads when I was reading this game early on
