yeah i have a problem responding to accusations when theyā€™re pretty much correct, usually i either post the walter white gif, openwolf or just roll over

i find it hard to refute against cases when they are objectively correct (mostly talking about marshalā€™s here) so thatā€™s something i need to get better at

I am glad that I could improve your wolfplay by giving you additional option

i thought u knew this

@Leafia

Your case is a little weird since you didnā€™t sub in until ā€¦ day 4, I think? In any case, one thing that you did a good job that a lot of people struggle with was reevaluating in LyLo, and actually considering the points made by the villager in the crossvote rather than continuing to push incorrect reads, so nice job there.

One thing I noticed is that when you subbed in it seemed to take you a while to actually start reading up on posts, like you spent a while just asking for cliffs rather than actually reading ā€“ this is a minor thing, but in general if you can backread, itā€™s a good idea to, and in this case, not backreading made it easier for you to be manipulated into scumreading specific people (some of whom were scum but some were town).

I also think there were a few points where your reads were made for reasons that arenā€™t actually alignment-indicative (sometimes correct reads, sometimes incorrect reads). For example, you (correctly) townread Hippo for posting:

which was basically an NAI joke (maybe mildly villagery with the context that he was making fun of a dead wolf). Conversely, you incorrectly scumread Ketsuban because you didnā€™t understand her reason for pushing you/thought it was bad, even though it made sense from her perspective.

I think in general something that could help with that last issue (in both directions) is to ask ā€˜what reason would town have for doing thisā€™ and ā€˜what reason would scum have for doing thisā€™ ā€“ that can help you catch things like ā€˜this could make sense from a scum perspective of wanting to misyeet me, but it could also make sense from a town perspective who legitimately believes X is scummy, which is consistent with how they tend to make reads as town.ā€™ ā€“ obviously you then want to actually think about which is more likely rather than just hedging, but.

the real question is
is it possible to give me anything that isnā€™t just
ā€œplay the gameā€
because that is 100% something i am aware of.

Doesnā€™t stop me from imagining the possibility

okay but you seemed extremely confident it was real

if youā€™re aware of it then why donā€™t you try and fix it

@Emilia

I thought you did a really good job of breaking your meta, even though it was hard for you ā€“ basically everyone whoā€™s played with you as scum had you at locktown or close to it. I know thatā€™s something youā€™ve struggled with a lot and Iā€™m proud of you for working on it. :orange_heart:

Youā€™re already aware of this, but a big thing to work on would be keeping that going over the course of the game ā€“ you were struggling a lot to produce content after day 1. Iā€™m honestly not sure how to give useful advice on how to fix that ā€“ maybe just, think about what sort of narrative you want to push in the thread, then come up with arguments to support that narrative, then post those arguments? This is admittedly likely to look kind of wolfy.

Another thing I noticed is that you had a strong tendency to fall back on what you thought you would be doing as town, even if it didnā€™t necessarily help you ā€“ e.g. when you were posting at EoD1, and it looked kind of wolfy, but you felt that it was what you would have done as town. Iā€™m not sure how much of that was not knowing what else to say (in which case, ā€˜what would you do as townā€™ is definitely an improvement over doing nothing) vs. actively optimizing for ā€˜what you would do as townā€™ even if it didnā€™t benefit you.

like iā€™m not really sure what the point of asking for advice is if youā€™re going to request something other than what the most crucial advice for improving your play is

easier said than done

mostly because iā€™m curious

if you donā€™t have time to play the game, then donā€™t sign up for it

i imagine this isnā€™t the case though because you clearly want to improve, so iā€™m not sure whatā€™s stopping you from dedicating more time to the game

i also kind of want advice but i feel like most of the stuff i did wrong in this game was due to circumstance or not really fixable
