Reading someone for the most part on “play” and usually Playstyle. Which isn’t an accurate method.
Surge I think if you want to convince people to toneread rather than doing things the way they do now the best way to do that is to work on improving your personal accuracy
right now I think people are inclined to dismiss what you’re saying based off of seeing a large number of games where you harddefend wolves or deathtunnel town due to tone
if there were fewer of those then people would be more likely to listen to your advice

Yep. Exactly why I am tweaking my meta.
I’m going to be more what people consider “Strong Town” while still making the reads that I make.
Agree, some players have tone tells but for a lot of experienced players their tone tells are too small for most townies to pick up on.
Also tone differences aren’t just due to alignment, someone can want to switch up their meta or have a different attitude towards the game, or even have different irl circumstances and that can change their tone. Tonereading can work sometimes but it’s just one tool in the toolkit of ways to read people for me.
