Knight Rework-Cold Steel now kills anyone

Passive: Armored- You will survive the first attack you block with Defend.
Night 1 Ability: Defend- Protect a player, giving your life to kill their attackers. Bypasses death immunity.
Night 2 Ability: Cold Steel- Kill a player. If they were an ally, you will kill them and take your life the next night. Note: You can’t be healed if you commit suicide. Also, can’t be used until Night 3. Doesn’t go through death immunity.

What’s the point?

Cold Steel is basically a perfect ability as is. There is no need or reason to change it.

Because omniscient killing isn’t good for BD. It will almost always confirm that your target is BD, especially since knight is now immune to redirection the night they use it.

Omniscient killing is generally a bad idea. However, suicide is an suffficient counterweight. It doesn’t even really confirm BD. They could hit an immune and be killed. Even if it is BD, they can be converted and such. And the confirmation isn’t often worth the life of a valuable protector.

This version of Cold Steel also makes trolling have more of an impact. It’s the reason Knight suicides at all. It’s important to not let people run around killing their teammates.

Redirection should kill the knight

Problem solved

FIrst things first. Why do you want nerf Knight in the first place?

Not really. People still yolo steel. I’ve even seen knights executed simply because they haven’t cold steeled anyone yet.

That and occupation are the only downside to it though.

It still confirms them the night they attack them.

The suicide mechanic would remain. And making CS kill both you and your attacker would also make people less likely to not claim to a knight. At the very least cold steel shouldn’t make you redirection immune.

It’s both a nerf and a buff. Nerf because it no longer confirms your target as BD, buff because it makes people more willing to claim to knights.

If i remember correcly i asked the author not you. i would like to hear an explanation first.

It’s a bad strategy that usually doesn’t help them.

It increases the consequences for a having a bad Knight on your team. It’s perfect as is.

Having the power to kill your allies in addition to yourself is something that is by no means a buff. It is a HUGE nerf.

The rest of the BD still can’t be sure. It’s also not worth the life of the Knight.

Knight is one of the few classes I’d consider basically perfect as is, not having any problems or needing any changes. The truth is, the fact that it’s omniscient is not a big deal.

It’s so OP if used right. It’s just no one figured that out yet

This is literaly straight contractiction. 1 - 1 ≠ 1.

It also allows good knights to be more aggressive. At the very least it should not make you redirection immune. That change wasn’t needed.

Like I said, it allows good knights to gather claims.

It’s possible for something to be both a nerf and a buff. For example, say prince’s ability to prevent visits were removed. It would be a nerf because it could no longer stop attackers and evil classes, but a buff because it would no longer stop investigations.

I agree that it’s one of the more balanced classes, but it’s not perfect. Cold steel should at least no longer give you redirection immunity. And retribution should be given to knight instead of hunter, knight claims are too often exed.

The double-kill here is very meh

If we’re gonna let them kill anybody just take away their ability to CS further if they hit BD

Retribution in general is pretty bad from a game design perspective, and putting it on a non-unique and unprovable class is absolutely terrifying and something I would never wish upon anybody no matter how much I hated them.

That’s the only way to prevent knights from being easily exed without making knight confirmable though. And knight is a killer, so it makes sense.

“Only way”

Another MORE USEFUL WAY would be to actually investigate the knight.

What if all of the investigatives are dead or converted?
