Make me wolf or neutral every time.
It is continually frustrating that NDFM, a game hosted 14 months ago that was my first mash and might have been my first scum loss, was the most recent mash town win
Like, are town in mashes just unlucky, are the games that unbalanced, or are we really just that bad in huge games
all three of those choices probably have varying degrees of truth depending on the mash
I don’t actually think this is just an ‘us’ thing
huge games in general are in various ways harder for town – it’s harder to do a lot of Good Townie Things To Do, like re-reading the thread, when there are 30 players and the thread has 10,000 posts, when people aren’t reading the entire thread they miss obvious things that clear/condemn a player, having more wolves enables more complicated strategies for playing scum that are harder to pick up on, etc.
there’s also the fact that i consider +1 wolf to be a greater net value in larger games than +3-4 town
That’s why I prefer scum.
larger wolfteams also increase the odds that there will be at least one competent wolf on the wolfteam, which is … understandably wolf-sided
Good town is town sided.
look at RMIV
when every wolf is highly competent, it’s unequivocally unwinnable for town
it’s gotten so bad that kyo predicted a scum sweep from the outset there and he was right
there was no stopping that team
competent wolves = wolf win
who knew
i think hippo is a beast and the best town player on the site
the fact that he’s lost so many town games in a row recently tells you how little +1 competent townie matters compared to +1 competent wolf
Competent wolves vs better town.
A town being better than a group of competent wolves is highly unlikely
because most of the playerbase is not… competent
People are competent in different aspects of the game.
yes but
that doesn’t mean town is ever going to tackle a group of competent wovles
because while that might be true, most towns, as a whole, aren’t competent enough to tackle a group of wolves who are, as a whole, competent
Still, the chances of town having competent players is higher than the alternatives.
There will always be weak links, LHFs, people with off games
and while wolf teams can have that too, you see it way more often with scum because they can focus the bad reads and push them with their agenda
