yeah but arent the logs “he did this and its bad” as opposed to “this is the bad post he did”
no farther up there was a suspension with a few bad posts he did
for the record
I have no issues with not saying lynch
CDFM used eliminate as standard to conform to site standards
But I do wonder how we also feel about terms like “Mafia” or games like “Secret Hitler” that seem to suffer from the same issue or worse?
Mafia doesn’t have that bad of a connotation
neither does cults IMO
I think it’s just the fact that the word lynch has a racial history and one that can be taken in a veeery negative light means that some people would rather not have it be said
You just aren’t from anywhere that has an actual Mafia history friend
i see
im curious if theres any more juicy stuff but if its effort to find i won’t bother
Welcome to Jersey home of crimelords
I mean I guess the mafia doesn’t really have a prescence in austin fucking texas
but I still think that regardless of that, lynch is a more widespread term that can be taken negatively.
Within America sure
But I’m cautious to apply that to everyone
Well, we germans play “Secret Hitler” and don’t have problems with it, despite being extremely anxious about anything regarding our past, so I would say it should be not a problem.
I’m really not a fan of the the term Mafia, but eh its just a name for a game so w/e… I’m uncomfortable to say it myself tho, so I prefer to just say FM myself
once again werewolf theming has been proven to be superior
Except I know people that do find it extremely uncomfortable
Therein lies the issue
It’s just the names of our games
It’s not like our games have the flavor of it
i’m not going to stop calling mob killings lynchings, because that is what that word means, but “execute” is a fine replacement
No one answered me on what he actually said.
Just rename it to Secret Stalin.
(to be honest, I never heared EVER before that lynch could have a racial connotation, but I’m not an american)
execute loses out on the nuance of it being a mob decision which is arguably an important nuance
Plus it’s already in use in other roles and contexts
we can probably do better for a replacement word
uhhh he made some disparaging remarks about south american people (and a few sexist remarks too iirc) which got his original ban/suspension
