i’m just talking about how hentai has ruined tentacles as a motif for monsters and dangerous creatures in high fantasy and SF
because you can’t position a tentacle monster as the main villain any more without them gaining Connotations™ and it undermining your audience’s tension
there is no answer
because quite frankly making them be covered in spikes only makes it worse
“hi i’m a horrifying tentacle monster bent on your destruction and i identify as aroace nice to meet you now i’m going to eat you”
natural dialogue there
