If there is anything I learned from playing forum mafia for some time, words “scumslip” and “opportunistic” should be banned.
The way people use them seems to always come from very specific ideas of how town and scum should act, which makes no sense.
One way of solving that I started to use recently (when I play seriously) is to look for posts that dont make sense coming from scum, and townreading these people.
If you go opposite way - looking for posts that you perceive to be scummy, you will be wrong most of time. Because villagers make garbage posts all of the time, but to make a pure post as scum - its a challenge. Most people cant do it.
Half of these so called scumslips are actually reasons to say the person is town.
Obv its a simplification and should be used carefully and coupled with experience. I usually try to place myself into a players spot, imagine Im scum and track if the process of posts makes sense.
Sometimes it doesnt - thats how i cleared ginger in clown fiesta despite him being at the absolute bottom of poe and despite him not even making much attempt to solve.
Or at least - I figured from scum making those post would be disproportionally and unjustifiably difficult, and for an estimated skill level of ginger, bordering on impossible.
I still feel I need to find a couple more ways to villaging to be at least semi decent though and that works for me personally.
I tried often recently to do meta analysis, but tbh Im not convinced I do it well. Alice does, but not me.
And by interactions I dont think I can do jack shit either - I think if I ask someone questions, they are in 9/10 cases wrong questions and help scum.
On a side note, if sulits slot is town, the jesus, dat really needs some work on not being a crazy TMI machine.
