Magic: The Gathering Discussion Thread

it gotta be :joy_cat:

there is the problem that FIres generally runs Bonecrusher giant and that has a shock that canā€™t be prevented attatched to it, which limits Tajicā€™s usefulness, but it does counter the Clarion so it might still be worth it

Fires is just really obnoxious to play against in general tbh, because it always plays the exact same things on the same turns yet itā€™s frustratingly hard to deal with them without gimping your own deckā€™s strategy

the ones iā€™ve played against just didnā€™t play creatures
they didnā€™t need to
there was the occasional shark typhoon but itā€™s not exactly a creature

my deck is better against creatures because nobody expects claim the firstborn which is great value and can bonk someone for lots of damage in certain scenarios

yeah iā€™m still used to dealing with Theros Beyond Death Fires
for reference that finished itsā€™ opponents with Cavaliers and Kenriths

bonecrusher is the only 3 drop that fires ever runs though
and it costs 2 health to firstborn it

oh yeah bonecrusher is a thing

health costs are seldom a problem for this deck because thereā€™s a lot of lifegain so itā€™s still good value
the planeswalkers are the real issue

true iā€™m just ponting out that Fires has a lot of stuff thatā€™s just obnoxious to deal with

agree

solution
ban fires from standard

the card not the deck

i mean after the Teferipocalypse Fires will lose basically all of itsā€™ threats and removal?

for reference the Teferipocalypse is Core 2021, which will be printing 4 new Teferi cards

a control deck could be good against fires hm

would have the highest number of ways to deal with everything fires does

the most effective way to deal with Fires is to counter their Fires, yes.

fires has 0 recursion from what i can tell so yeah

weā€™ll only have to deal with it for a few more months before Clarion, all of the War of the Spark planeswalkers, and the Cavaliers rotate
