Can we make Smite single-target? The title really says it all. A successful smite is so devastating.
It already is single target.
It also works if the Paladin is converted, though.
I mean allow Smite to be self-targetable but not work on yourself in addition to another target.
It also works if the Paladin is converted, though.
What do you mean?
I mean Smite protects the Paladin as well.
I’m asking for Smite to only protect a single player, which is whoever the Paladin targets, but allow the Paladin to target himself.
Maybe he should protect himself but only kill the CL if they target the pally’s target?
Why should it make the Paladin conversion immune? I want the success of Smite to be more reliant on the skill of the Paladin predicting who is going to get converted. If the Paladin Smites somebody else and gets converted himself, it’s not like he hurt his new team. So I don’t think he should be conversion immune while smiting.
This was the case in the past (minus the self-target). Paladin was too weak and would only rarely prevent a conversion/kill a CL.
Agreed. Paladin and sheriff just need complete reworks.
Paladin was not too weak. Smite was(and still is) overpowered, there’s no way to counter or trick it.
Invoker, Erraticate, ect. Smite Has counterplay
The only counterplay is occupation and prevention though. And there’s still no way to trick it. All abilities should have some risk, there’s no risk to using smite.
Smite only has two uses. To me, that’s drawback enough. I usually am not able to successfully smite before I am killed.
Sure, there is the occasional successful n1 Smite but the numbers for that aren’t high enough to need a nerf imo.
I think there is a problem with Smite.
Balance wise it’s fine.
But most of the time it does nothing, and in rare cases it just kills a Cult and stops a conversion.
I think the swinginess is problematic.
I agree. Too swingy.
Smite used to be but on a old patch on updating the classes people enjoyed the paladin smite change
But it still has a huge impact when successful, especially when used during the first few nights. At the very least it should only prevent conversion and not kill the CL.
