Mercenary and sellsword

Do people actually like the new merc/sellsword?
I personally hate the new abilities that they both got and don’t like their win con either. I know back when merc guarding someone had its issues but I rather have that then what we have now. It was really fun trying to keep your target alive and trying to make a bound with them. Do you agree or disagree and why

I COMPLETELY agree 100%. I loved the old Merc and Sellsword. The new ones are rarely fun to play since you always end up getting killed by your own allies, either during the day or at night.

The old merc was removed supposedly because people bussed their first contract to be able to choose a new one (I never observed this in my own games). Anyway, seems like a better solution would’ve been simply not let merc get a second contract. He had 4 uses of death immunity for both himself and his contract so why does he have to have a second chance?

That’s why I’m trying to make people aware of it. All mercs I play against prevent me from visiting someone for no reason and it’s really annoying when you’re trying to prove yourself. Also it’s ridiculously hard for me to play as merc because when I put myself with conformed logs, I still get executed. I just don’t understand why they changed a class that had a minor problem when there is classes they need major reworks

Old merc was so confirmable. I’ll be fine if it didn’t say you guarded your target to ur target.

Sellsword is fine, the only change it needs is changing it’s win con to “survive to see the blue dragon lose”. I agree that merc needs changes though

Please no, no one wants Sellsword to “survive” until end game that rarely happens.

Survive wincons should only be in place if that class actually has ways of preventing their death at night; Sellsword has practically none, unless they’re Intimidating the only remaining scum-killer every night, and that killer shouldn’t even be trying to kill them.

I actually made it do d7 on a merc claim (was assassin) with old merc

Here is what I think about the whole Merc/SS situation:

1)Yes , I agree that The Mercenary and The Sellsword classes are broken. Their WC is what makes them broken. Not the idea behind it , but the WC. The Devs can’t really do much about it
2)Yes , Old Mercenary was better than this one. The fact that it wasn’t convertable is ok , I guess? I don’t really know. Mercenary notifying the target was broken. Merc’s second contract was broken too. If you were converted as a Merc , it’s basically insta-exe since your target can’t confirm you.
3)The Devs are tirelessly trying to fix the Merc/SS problem. I feel like these classes have a lot of potential but The Devs haven’t found it yet.

Well, no one believes a merc that is simply swapping shields

Colin the Merc
n1 shield 3
n2 shield 8
n3 self-shield (remove shield)

This sounds like a one time occurrence though

No, just a personal record. If you chain poisoned your “target” you’re usually good to go (since guarding would prevent the heals).

All the old mercenary needed was the stand guard message removed, also I don’t think they really needed a new contract, if they failed to protect there contract it’s there fault they had plenty of protections, I had no problem with Sellsword because if the Mercenary didn’t commit suicide and made no notification on it’s contract then there isn’t really a problem.

Also it’s wincon would just be to live with it’s Contracted faction, if it didn’t auto suicide but ye.

This means you aren’t playing the classes correctly.

The reason people die to Unseen/NK as Sellsword is because they put too much value in their lives.
Sellsword is fine and a well designed class.

Merc could do with another rework though, preferably one that is consistently BD leaning in its nature.

So What I’m getting from all this is that merc should go back to guarding their contract but, they should only have one contract and should be unconvertable. The SS should stay the same. Is that what everyone wants but summed up

close, i want merc to be convertable to old sellsword

No, the reason I die to Unseen/NK as Sellsword is because people attack me even after I’ve claimed to be evil and acted like a fool.

It’s easy to avoid getting executed as Sellsword since you can fake-claimer Butler very well, but you will get attacked at night. Mercenary tends to get both executed by BD during the day and attacked at night. It’s kind of ironic that he can’t fake-claim any innocent class but his evil counterpart can. If you claim Merc they think you’re sellsword and “so what if you die you probably win anyways.”

The classes are terrible. And the reasoning for reworking them didn’t make sense. If people were throwing to get a new contract, don’t let them get a new contract. I mean you have 4 nights of death immunity for yourself and your contract, if he dies it’s probably your fault.
