I actually got quite good at it as a kid. Sometimes the second part of the third level would make salty though. I think I managed to beat the game without dying once.

It’s not a bad game, but it’s hard as hell. Ghosts 'n Goblins is still harder and I beat that twice on the NES with no savestates

It does involve a bit of luck and just learning patterns. But can be frustrating, but the Gold armour can make it easy. Only major issue is if you accidentally pick up the sword
