[MISC] Superfight - Round 6, Phase 2 - CANNED

we decide the interpretations, you decide which holds water

That’s cool
but I’m saying it’s a portal gun that is actually usable because otherwise it would just be useless

the whole point of the game is you guys trying to convince us? why should yall be the ones to determine whether thing x works or not, the minutia
you guys can decide strategy of course, but like circumstances like that aren’t just favorable to you necessarily

Yes. But the host literally said we’re supposed to interpret our cards if there’s any reason to have to interpret them. So, you deciding that you’re going to decide what my stuff does and then vote on that… doesn’t make sense?

sure you can argue whether the interpretation would work or not (ie if his portal gun is fully functioning or not), but you probably shouldn’t just outright decide what the fighter’s cards mean

like last round after I interpreted blinding light as Paladinos, if people just discounted that interpretation, it’s not really the fighters doing the fighting.

i mean you can suggest, but you ultimately should not be the decider of things like this

im asking because im trying to determine what makes the most sense for the situation. thats why i did ask for others input.
you can say it would work because a) b) or c) or something, if you have reasons why it should work that way im open to it, but i wasnt directly asking for your input because you’re obviously biased towards whatever is beneficial to you and that goes against finding what makes sense

fair enough but the Superfight rules literally say the one who holds the card is the one who resolves vaugness in the cards

look, its effectively the same as deciding whether your interpretation works or not, just sort of turned on its head, and it gives you a chance to argue against the decision, or to provide a strategy for your hero in the other interpretation

yeah and thats dumb

… anyway, I’m going to go ahead and say this is a portal gun that can be used on surfaces that aren’t covered in moon dust (although that’s kinda a moot point since moon rocks are literally composed of basalt mostly, and some theories speculate that the moon originated from the Earth but that’s getting too far into science for a fucking portal gun)

i disagree, this is not far enough. tell me more of the moon’s chemical composition, and how common materials like that are on the surface of earth

The moon is mostly made up of basalt and anorthosite. Basalt is fairly common on Earth, although anorthosite is not as common. Upon looking at the portal wiki, it’s stated that

portal spoilers i guess

ā€œAt some point in the late 1970s or early 1980s, Cave Johnson, CEO of Aperture Science, somehow managed to acquire roughly $70 million worth of Moon rock. Upon grinding up and mixing it into gel, he discovered two things: one being that it made a great portal conductor, and the other being that ground Moon rock was ā€œpure poison.ā€ā€

This also insinuates that it is not the only portal conductor, although it does not go into further detail on this, implying that other materials can be used to open portals, although maybe not indefinitely.

portal gun makes this an unfair fight to the dinos they would get close and hed go 3 miles away

@EliThePsycho

i mean, even without out that it would be unfair as soon as we make the assumption that I’m an elite sharpshooter

because
id be even further away
and if we assume that t-rexes can run infinitely at 20 meters per second, that could be as much as 3 minutes to get to me
and that’s after they locate me
while i have an invisibility cloak
and a suppressor
and am thousands of meters away
if we assume i can shoot a t-rex successfully approximately every 3 seconds due to their large surface area, and we can safely assume I have 5 bullets per magazine and it takes me ~5 seconds to reload, every 20 seconds i can kill the 5 dinos closest to my position. this equates to 15 dinos per minute.
So, going off of worst-case scenario of 1) dinos knowing my location instantly, 2) having infinite stamina, 3) being perfectly coordinated, 4) not being at all hindered by any of them dying, and 5) me not having any way of hiding
i could potentially lose
however
if literally any of those things do not occur (which, logically speaking, none of them should occur) i should, with near certainty, win.

you’re just The Sniper, but you borrowd The Spy’s watch

jokes on you i haven’t played tf1 or tf2

That’s, quite simply, incorrect. The range of an average sharpshooter is 600-1200m. And I’m an elite sharpshooter. However, sure, let’s say I’m average. A t-rex could run at 45 miles per hour. This is roughly twenty meters per second. So, at the absolute bare minimum , it would take a t-rex 30 seconds to even get close to me. And that assumes it could find me, first. However, I have the best silencer that money can buy, as well.
Here’s a quote: ā€œOne of T. rex’s unique abilities was its hypersensitive hearing. A bone in its inner ear, the cochlea, was remarkably long. And in animals alive today, that specialization is associated with the ability to hear low frequency sounds well.ā€ It doesn’t matter if it can hear low-frequency sounds, as a gunshot is not a low-frequency sound, even at the very, very low chance it could hear it, while it has been suppressed, from anywhere between two fifths of a mile to multiple miles away. Again, it will take them at least 30 seconds to get near me, and even then, I could just… retreat to further away. Furthermore , t. rexes are much larger than humans, so I could really move even further away whilst still being accurate enough to kill. I don’t even need to kill with the first bullet. I could just wound, or I could even just miss and shoot again. If a t-rex even attempts to follow me through the portal - first off, it’s incredibly unlikely that it could even fit. However, even if it could that would still work to my advantage as, due to their size and body mass concentration, they would not be able to move through very quickly. So, I could easily just wait until they were halfway through, fire a new portal of the same color, and woops! That t-rex just got fucking chopped in half!

(this is now a copypasta @Aelin you’re welcome)
