There is zero way to counter this and you don’t even know it happens? I guarded myself Night 1 and Night 2 even.
Every other similar ability isn’t usable until 3 (Prince Execute, Knight Cold Steel, Hunter Wolf, Sorc Circle)
Feels like it needs some tuning/tweaking.
I wasn’t able to even do anything before I was dead.
Evil King is so rare and fun to play, this doesn’t feel fun or fair at all.

I agree it’s not fun, I think this is the solution.
How is this unfair? An assassin also can just easily kill an observer or so and they will not be able to do anything. If you want to survive as an Evil king, you have to play well and act good enough for butlers not to poison you. You can also ask an alchemist to solely heal you, or bomb any butler claims you have (under suspicion of being NK for instance)
I’m still having games where I die to yolo poison and it’s not fun.
Butlers are an important check to Evil Kings. You would find that BD would be more inclined to executing King early for the most minor of reasons simply because they don’t have a safe and consistent way to remove them from play.
That said I’d be in favour of requiring two button presses to confirm the poison. Some players really can’t resist pressing the button.
You are saying that making it so they have to click it twice for it to work will make it happen less?

Wait I just realized this actually would work.
Because it would stop accidents if they accidentally clicked it and then it would allow players who want to troll have a chance to forget they need to press it twice
It’s a high impact ability with potentially severe consequences. Being able to casually press a button to kill the king doesn’t convey to the player that the ability is important.
Could just add the warning box that Assassin/Cult Leader suicide has
