rather than having a two step process just allow everyone to go up at once but if any royal bloods step forward only allow them to be voted for

No. Royal blood call is needed separately so royals can see if anyone else will step forward.

The separation is needed. Unless you intend to have an indication that person a has royal blood, then other royals can’t tell if they need to step up to stop evils becoming king.

currently how do you know that the royal blood step up is good ?

You don’t, but royals are more likely to be good.

Although unseen are more likely to kill a king if they have a royal.
