Ninjas and Guns - Overwatch Flavor - [3/17] - Day 7: Mafia Wins (winky face) (it's not a joke)

You did awesome

i was only in the game for a day and a half and then i gave up lol

Yes, after:

  1. She counterclaimed DkKoba after Dk claimed PR, when she absolutely didnā€™t need to do that as a wolf.
  2. Proph told the village to always kill Dk first. And while you may not trust Proph, voting Dk is just the right thing to do there because Dk got counterclaimed by a village-read player.
  3. She had a lot of posts. (Yes, she still has a postcount tell.)
  4. She was the first voter on the wolf PR wagon at EoD3. Speaking of which, that wagon was pure. Not sure why AT was hammered in MyLo, when ATā€™s vote was the reason the wolf PR could get yeeted at all? Wagons are 4/3 without that vote and Derps goes over.

Not only that, the yeet was randed between sulit and Dk. This should never have been a thing.

And she still had her vest. If she doesnā€™t get yeeted there, wolves either never kill her or they have to waste a bullet on her vest, sacrificing one nightkill just to get her out of the game. This could potentially turn the tide, because more clear villagers would be alive, increasing the chance of Marshal being found.

While wolves might still win the game because of that ridiculous bussing, their chances decrease.

ā€¦I actually donā€™t understand how you lost the MyLo at all. The MyLo was comprised of:

Amelia, who replaced into Windwardā€™s slot. A flipped wolf had a very opportunistic push on Windward, making the slot likely town.
Derps, who replaced into SkyREDā€™s slot. Derps was wagoned back-to-back to the wolf PR at EoD and survived by the skin of his teeth. Flipped wolves voted on him there, making it clear wolves were trying to save.
ATNoName, whose vote was the reason the EoD3 yeet was randed instead of Derps going over, and thus the wolf JOAT (Intensify) was killed.

And then you have Marshal. The best-looking thing for Marshal was the fact two flipped wolves were voting her at EoD2, but with two more votes on Aelin and nobody inclined to switch, that wasnā€™t clearing.

How did you quickhammer a villager there? Iā€™m not saying this to be mean, Iā€™m genuinely curious what the mindset was, outside of ā€œMarshal told us to.ā€ When I look at the game holistically, 2/3 of these slots were slots wolves tried to kill, and the third killed the wolf PR with his vote. Marshal should be yeeted based on process of elimination; she didnā€™t have anything going for her, at least nothing like the other three players there. If weā€™re talking optimal play, you shouldā€™ve slept and gone to f3, but if you really did want to yeet someone there, it shouldā€™ve been Marshal. And Iā€™m curious why it wasnā€™t.

Vulgard you also have to read the thread from a personā€™s mindset, not just the neutral perspective. That is what actually led to me doing my actions, I knew that from every personā€™s mental state that they just wanted to reduce the PoE by any means necessary and I already stated my case bringing forth both Amelia and Marshal to be investigated. I hoped they would heed my warnings, but then decided to vote ATNo for quickhammering me when Marshal looked just as suspicious. It was WiFom and town fell for it completely.

Oh, thatā€™s why Iā€™m asking about the mindset. Objectively speaking, Marshal looked the worst, but she wasnā€™t yeeted - and Iā€™m curious how that happened. It had to have been something related to peopleā€™s mindsets.

Well people I find it arenā€™t paranoid enough or thorough enough. They just vote with their emotions leading them on, even if the layout can be a classic example of old mafia tricks and tactics.

I actually agree with that part; if anything, there shouldā€™ve been an Amelia/Marshal crossvote. The reasons to clear AT and Derps were much stronger.

Like imagine voting someone off because you couldnā€™t read them as well as the other players, and this isnā€™t because they had reads that brought mixed results, but because they just didnā€™t contribute much. Which I admitted is anti-town, but I didnā€™t really care much and tried to provide reads when I was on the hot seat. In the end they were still pretty set on me being the culprit, so I just did the most efficient thing and voted myself off

You were probably always going to die there by PoE alone, sadly. ;c

Well that comes with my play style, town canā€™t figure out a slot so town will start a wagon towards it, mafia manipulates it and pushes it even further, and no one knows the wiser because its WiFom.

That being said I just hope people can understand an anti-town isnā€™t pro-mafia in nature. Just because you canā€™t read a slot well doesnā€™t mean it has to be mafia, especially when you get so distracted by that one slot that you fail to re-evaluate all the others to paint a clearer picture. Even Wazza admitted that Marshal was acting mafia-y all game, but they got so focused on me that it brought the unfortunate result of me getting voted off.

It feels like we are venturing into Principles of Playing Mafia territory, but.

  • Anti-town and pro-mafia are different terms that get muddled together a lot.
  • Lower posters tend to be challenging to read.
  • There always comes the point when townies desperately want the game to end, and itā€™s tough to restrain the urge to make that happen regardless of correctness. This is when stuff like quickhammering happens. Itā€™s probably the reason this MyLo went the way it went, but I still asked out of curiosity.
