You’re implicitly assuming that all scummy people are BD
Scummy = person who is either new or bad and probably your own faction
Checked by mechanics = person is probably evil (or framed)
(or the invest is lying)
In any case, BD is already punished for lynching BD, in that they lose one of their members
‘Add Fool to reward BD for playing badly’ seems like a questionable argument at best

You said that Fool needs to exist to discourage people from lynching people who could be BD
That is, it rewards BD for playing badly (in a manner that makes people think they are evil)
And god forbid we every try to move past that by changing up classes that are keeping us stuck there

I’m not saying that people never act scummy as BD but you’re claiming they never act scummy as scum, which is outright false
No, it hurts BD that actively scumread and allows bad players (BD or otherwise) a crutch (“reward”)

If you are playing in a manner likely to get yourself mislynched as BD then you are failing in one of your fundamental obligations to your team

To an extent yes, but it’s moreso they’re not discouraged from acting scummy as much because Fool exists than they choose to act scummy because Fool exists
BD who actively scumreads = will likely scumread you as Fool, because that’s pretty easy in ToL
Not exing Fool = Reward for good BD players who actively scumread
