Opinion Thread: The Fool (ToL)

That’s also a problem but not the one we are discussing

Oh you mean it being discovered

No it doesnt punish you in Any way Cuz they can Use abilities before that And they dont have goal of harming BD

Fool is Usually meant to be killed by TK

They will be simply a kingmaker if left alive

That doesnt punish you for making correct read

TK exist

what if TK doesn’t exist

Then they dont die

But there is still no punishment for correct read

The thing is that it is unfair to call it a correct read if it is the same attributes you would use to read a real scum, which you want to lynch
You have to read someone for being specifically a fool

the correct read that X is scum, or that X is exactly a fool?

Fool has different goal wich is to be lynched

That is enough to find them

Yes

X is fool

while i feel like getting yourself executed on stand is very easy and avoiding being a “confirmed fool” is also quite easy most of the time…

X is fool. What do we do?
Can a Knight CS them? (keep in mind they can give themselves DI)
Can a Hunter bleed them? (wastes a bleed)
Can the Prince execute them? (wastes an execute and a jail)
Can a Chronomancer redirect a death onto them? (keep in mind they can give themselves DI)
Can a Drunk redirect a killer into them? (keep in mind they can give themselves DI)
No?
Can we afford to lynch a Fool? (has obvious drawbacks)
Can we king them? (Neutral King? ehh, maybe if Priestess is around)
Do we just leave it alive and have it become a kingmaker? (Hint: They probably won’t side BD)

In pretty much all of these cases, there is still punishment.

with this all said I don’t think there’s much that can change with fool without changing its wincondition entirely

and i don’t think most ToL players want that

You are saying in prince example it wastes an exe Yet it doesnt
You can keep the fool alive but you dont want them to Thats Why you Use exe on them

id rather misexecute a suspicious BD than execute a confirmed fool in jail

because one progresses the game towards my wincondition and the other eliminates an annoying neutral

You can say same for sellsword or Any other neut

sellswords abilities actively harm BD even when outted

fools don’t except MAYBE TB, but if a fool is outted you’re careful for TBs

I rather ignore a Fool than get rid of him

They are both in neut slot I wouldnt call it a waste
