Optimal Noble Strategy

As noble, night 1, you use private matters.

Day 2, Wisper EVERYBODY a message that looks like this:

“Hey, i am merc, you are my contract. I did not protect you night 1 to keep charges. Let’s win together =)”

As a general rule, BD players will happily tell you their role, or at least reply that theyre bd. Its quite easy to find their role. You usually at least find around 4-5 roles using this strategy.

Then, of course, listen to conversation of the king.

Using those 2 things, you can quickly know every roles. With some luck, maybe a cult or a neutral will even admit their role to you. And best thing is, if you get converted, you can really help out the cult.

I just used this strategy in a game, was converted night 2, and we literally did not lose a single cult member.

Note: if at some point they figure out what you did, you can easily prove you are noble by saying “well i used private matters and wisped all of you…”

Even the whispers may be not shown, the evil faction will no doubt know you are Noble.

Maybe, but the point is most BD will reveal their roles to you.

Aristocrat is capable to do the same.

Not a problem. You claimed merc

That seems worth trying actually. I can see a couple stubborn people being skeptical and refusing to tell you. And when somebody says that you claimed you’re their merc, all hell will break loose at that point. But I honestly do wanna try it once.

I don’t see this happening if you literally claim Merc to everyone as Noble/Aristocrat.

Everyone will know in next day it’s a sham, and one way or another, Noble/Aristocrat will be dealt with.

People might not figure it out. No one else knows the whispers are happening and they don’t out people that claim merc on them. They would figure it out eventually but since noble is a provable claim it won’t get you killed.

MM/Cult Leader and Assassin/starter cult member (additional with converted member) will discuss about the ‘merc’ claim will be guarding two people at same night and they couldn’t see the whispers on chat? Dead giveaway and it’s not worth converting.

Psychic links with the people and they are telling to got merc contract, again the single merc with ‘two’ contracts.

Since Noble and Aristocrat are the same, both sides will suspect with this Strategy but at the same time, you play both sides.

As this title points out, it’s optimal.

Never in a million years would I tell my role to somebody claiming Merc unless they use a charge

And even then it’s sketchy

I’ve had Merc wins on my own by stabbing my contract in the back to get a new one

The point isn’t to trick Everyone. It’s to trick enough people that you have an advantage

Be carefull with this. Its a solid strategy, but i got reported for it before and almost got banned. It’s against the rules. There are topic about it on the forums. Just telling you this as a friendly advice because i did same exact thing as you.

This exactly. But i noticed 2 mains problems with it:

1: If players are weak, they think you are the fool (even tho you obviously cant be one…)
2: If there is a real merc, he tends to out you.

Can you link me to the discussion you’re referring to? That sounds ridiculous to me. It’s completely in character for the Merc to do this.

Outing people for the benefit of winning should be allowed as long as it’s in the spirit of the game and you’re not “throwing” for your team or yourself.

I will out people on my own team all the time as CL/MM - my journals are a mixture of information meant to trick people as well.

I disagree, Unseen see big target.

I agree with your post, but thats not the rules.

Bussing is also illegal in this game unless you literally ask your partner out loud if he is ok with being bussed.

I will try that once, just because of how much fun it’ll be.
With any luck you’ll get a few stupid NKs or MMs that way.

Being capped with three unseen forever doesn’t do wonders for them.
