Eevee not knowing a mechanic doesn’t imply they are town. It is possible that their team didn’t notice that until now or noticed that early and decided to save it to be potentially “mod-confirmed”.
While I’m not saying eevee is scum, “confirming” them as town is too much.
I can also see this interaction as mathblade and eevee trying to confirm each other as scum OR as mathblade attempting to whiteknight.
