I hate to say it but you haven’t made it easier to fake claim at all, if anything it’s probably harder.
I can see myself only using Survey N2-Onwards unless it’s a specific scenario. But Survey is a lot harder to fakeclaim than Distant Follow, so lots of evils will fakeclaim Distant Follow, causing people to realise a trend later down the line with how they fakeclaim Distant Follow, next up when an actual Observer uses Distant Follow and get’s executed, especially if a new player, toxic people will get annoyed at shout or swear at them. This is a likely scenario to happen.
Thanks for the explanation, you aren’t wrong with how bad Pretender is, I still feel like it should’ve got a rework or complete overhaul like Court Wizard did back in the past. It’s quite tough to add more mechanics to a stacked game and that’s understandable, but honestly I really did like Pretender for how it effected King, there were lots of problems but Ballot Mixing, in my opinion, was a pretty good ability concept. I didn’t like how it was a Princess Clone, though.
But right now if you want to fakeclaim Obs you essentially have to be able to fakeclaim both Distant Follow and Survey in one night, which is obviously harder than just faking one of them

Where did Dylan say a rework was off the table? Possibly, Pretender is just being removed while work is being done behind the scenes, to keep the game fun while it is not yet finished?
Worst case scenario, Pretender isn’t coming back. I personally think Pretender can’t be reworked and still remain ‘Pretender’. Its entire class identity will have to change, so might as well create a new class to take its place.

With the extreme nerf to Gossip I don’t believe this is right, especially considering noble can’t confirm others as easily.
Ah yes, the king is finally slot 1 and no longer randomly says you’re BD.
I guess it helps with toxicity, but in order to actually get newcomers in the game, we need this tutorial to be good. Looking forward regardless.
I’m against this. This makes drunk almost hard confirming, and therefore fake claims will have an extremely tough time faking it.
This shouldn’t be a thing. If all vote abilities were disabled until voting actually begins it’ll turn back into the old style of “use your ability first” duels.

To clarify – my reading of the post is that this is fixing a bug on the Drunk’s side, where the Drunk was receiving incorrect or no feedback (sometimes causing 2 BD to be executed wrongly).
Timesnatcher’s Dark dimension nerf looks a bit forced. I think you need to rework it entirely.
No I think it’s the same ability, it just shows timesnatcher as chrono instead of princess as it previously did

Legit shocked at Pret just being flat out removed instead of changed. Same with Noble Twin, hot damn.
Glad I managed to get some stuff in there though =) This meta is shaping up to be pretty dang fun.

It’s actually a buff, an S/I Chrono claim is obviously going to get exe’d (as is a Chrono claim that doesn’t match the Prince in more-or-less full generality) whereas an S/S Chrono claim compatible with BD royals is going to look much more legitimate

There’s lots of things that you can do with the name “Pretender”.
I never said you could fake claim Obs right now. I personally would never take it.
I dont like these changes. For me, its like butchering two classes (noble and obs), and they will be unfun to play… I know that you want to do some anti-meta improvements but hey, a competent player could go around these classes even as an evil, and now, they will be as fun as a phys. Not to mention both of them were nerfed before (obs cant follow king, noble spy was killed by whisper meta elimination).
And what i predicted, players found that VFR (vote others to trials) is the new meta. Period. You cant fix that… unless you want to make mechanics involving the trials, and thats a basic stuff in every social deduction games, so I have no idea how could be handled differently.
When i started playing ToL, the much bigger variety and overpowered abilities, constant changes were the nice stuffs over ToS, and the fact that almost every classes could carry. Sadly, right now all i see is nerfed classes, rare (balance) changes (who cares if something is OP? just nerf next time, but let people try and enjoy the OPness).
I hope You can come up with various ability ideas to shake up the game, more classes.
Some remarks:
Kape can now claim noble. Even fake noble. Easily.
Obs wont be a priority to kill, also a semi decent fake obs claim by the NK/MM wont make them “immune” from the gallows.
Pret wont make an easy fakeclaim as evils either.
Well, First impression, kinda sad that the pretender is gone, I would have loved to see a change to king rather than just dropping the class, and I can’t say I hate the Observer change, yes, it is my favorite BD class just by how much info it gives, but a nerf is in order and hopefully they change the spawn rate because holy fuck, but my favorite thing is the long-awaited nerf of the Noble, The noble was too OP for literally fucking forever, and the Gossip King meta kicked off, and then poof playing evil was no fun since you couldn’t claim like 1/3 of the classes, or sometimes any of the classes you would claim with that class, ex: Assassin can’t claim Knight; MM can’t claim Phys; Apostle can’t claim Noble; etc. also newcomer title is a good idea and the CW wording change is pretty good for new players ig.

Might be a “nerf” patch but a lot of the classes that got nerfed was a long time coming and well needed for balance
nerfs are better for long term power
it’s easier to reel in classes then bring all classes to the same level in an arms race
plus if anything Obs gets reverted because holy shit
tracker+lookout, 2 shot faction peeker is busted regardless of power level

although this should have probably come sooner still one of the best patches too date nothing really up for controversy
