in my games, traits can’t be rolled actually, they must be hand-picked by the player.

You don’t have to have a religion trait.

In my games, for traits:

2 for free (must be different types)
You can purchase a third if you want in exchange for one drawback (must be a different type from the first two)
If and only if you choose to purchase the third, you have another option if you want to purchase a fourth in exchange for two more drawbacks (so 3 drawbacks total, but this one can be a repeat type, if you want)

the traits available to you to choose include everything of all other types as well as the Campaign Traits specific to Tyrant’s Grasp that can be found in the player’s guide.

if you choose to have a religion trait, in my games, such a trait should not be rolled, in line with everything else.
