i hope nobody is under the impression that GI is actually about following the rules absolutely to the letter
a host’s responsibility to hosting GI is to make it approximate something playable
Write down some definitions in the reviewer thread, give the reviewers some time to disagree/rewrite them, and then put it in the OP yourself.
That’s the usual way to go when you notice that the responsible people won’t do it themselves (cuz they rarely do, they still havent even given an updated list of who is reviewer, despite being asked multiple times publically and privatly)
actually
there is
check the staff and volunteers thread
Oh fuck
I haven’t noticed that.
I take everything back
Thx Datbird
the obvious ones:
FoL
SFoL
the fm gang:
vanilla - tested open / semi-open fm setups
standard - can mean a lot of things, but uses standard-ish roles
mishmash - mash but not beeg
mash - beeg mash
things I like:
bastard - explicitly bastard games
what category is margaret’s bastardized trashcan
obviously Italy is just a better Killer
alternatively you could go fancy with
The Biggest, Most Awful, Most Tragic Event in Human History
*a better Knight
Those are far from truth.
FoL - Official gamemode on this site. Obvious one.
SFoL - Game which is based on FoL, but with some own modifications. Usually has to have some elements specific to FoL, like class typings etc.
Vanilla - Open or Semi-open setup, only basic roles (which we have noted in other thread).
Standard - Closed setup, mostly consisting of basic roles, some modifications or own ideas allowed.
Special - Games consisting of mix of weird roles and mechanics.
Mash - Pretty much everything above 25 players (this is to make sure 2 big games won’t run at the same time).
I fail to see differences between your suggestions of the definitions. Isn’t it mostly the same?
(Other than that you forgot some modes, eevee)
Competitive was removed 2 years ago.
There was never seperate category for minimash and mash tbh.
Vanilla has to be open or semi-open.
Vanilla has no requirements for goon/vt numbers, as long as it uses basic roles list.
Standard has no mention of list either in theirs definition.
Anon is not a category either tbh. At most modifier to other ones. Anon can be vanilla or standard after all.
Specials don’t have to be bastard.
So pretty much every single category was defined differently.
Right now we have an anon competitive and minimashes in the queue. So yea. He just described the categories we have rn (and having more different categories is good tbh).
Also I do not agree that all Standard games must be closed setups?
Kyo did not define SFMs as bastard games. Just that bastard games fall under that category as well.
Unrelated
When’s the next NFoL
In other words, the roles doesn’t matter, but only whether the setup is open, semi-open, or closed does?
Honestly we could always host one soonish at least after fol29 to work out kinks in the system… there are concerns that there arent like many noobs left, but we can see when it happens
IMO if it dosent give a class type ill just default to special
id say to just look at the class and decide what makes most sense, but most of those classes are prob gonna end up being Special anyway
Anon competitive is pretty much invalid as it tells nothing about the game itself.
Minimash and mash is the same and can be just exchanged tbh.
