[Rework Suggestion] The King! A more vulnerable, more social class

The aim of this rework suggestion is to make the king a useful figure to rally behind, but one that is vulnerable and relies on BD protection to make it through he game.

The Good King :shield: :crossed_swords:

Blue Dragon Special
Kind Tenacity (Passive) - Immune to occupation and redirection. If there are 4 or fewer people left alive, all your votes count double. If the court executes the Good King, the court will be unable to execute anyone for the next 2 days, or for the next day if it’s after Day 4.
Royal Guards (Passive) - Your personal guards will sacrifice themselves to save you from attacks. You are death immune once.
Private Matters (Day) - Today, all whispers to and from you will be hidden from the public. Only starting King has this ability. - 1 use.
Decide Fate (Day) - You will decide the fate of the accused, pardoning or executing them on the spot. - 1 use.
Safe Chambers (Night) - Tonight, you will protect players that visit you, granting them death immunity. - 5 uses.
Order Execution (Night) - Send out an elite cadre of guards to attack a target, bypassing healing and death immunity. If your attack is successful, it will be broadcast to the court. Does not count as a visit. Only starting King has this ability. - 1 use.
Defeat the Unseen or Cult and any neutrals that seek to do you harm.

Unseen Special
Tenacity (Passive) - Immune to occupation and redirection. If there are 4 or fewer people left alive, all your votes count double.
Royal Guards (Passive) - Your personal guards will sacrifice themselves to save you from attacks. You are death immune once.
Private Matters (Day) - Today, all whispers to and from you will be hidden from the public. Only starting King has this ability. - 1 use.
Decide Fate (Day) - You will decide the fate of the accused, pardoning or executing them on the spot. - 1 use.
Unseen Intrigue (Night) - Tonight, you will learn which classes and how many of them visit you, and grant them death immunity. - 5 uses.
Order Execution (Night) - Send out an elite cadre of guards to attack a target, bypassing healing and death immunity. If your attack is successful, it will be broadcast to the court. Does not count as a visit. Only starting King has this ability. - 1 use.
Defeat the Blue Dragon and any neutrals that seek to do you harm.

Cult Special

Private Matters (Day) - Today, all whispers to and from you will be hidden from the public. Only starting King has this ability. - 1 use.
Decide Fate (Day) - You will decide the fate of the accused, pardoning or executing them on the spot. - 1 use.
Cult Patronage (Night) - Tonight, you will send out a private guard to assist the Cult Leader, preventing them from being occupied, as well as granting death immunity to those that visit you. - 5 uses.
Order Execution (Night) - Send out an elite cadre of guards to attack a target, bypassing healing and death immunity. If your attack is successful, it will be broadcast to the court. Does not count as a visit. Only starting King has this ability. - 1 use.
Defeat the Blue Dragon and any neutrals that seek to do you harm.

Neutral Special
Tenacity (Passive) - Immune to occupation and redirection. If there are 4 or fewer people left alive, all your votes count double.
Royal Guards (Passive) - Your personal guards will sacrifice themselves to save you from attacks. You are death immune once.
Private Matters (Day) - Today, all whispers to and from you will be hidden from the public. Only starting King has this ability. - 1 use.
Decide Fate (Day) - You will decide the fate of the accused, pardoning or executing them on the spot. - 1 use.
Find Blackmailers (Night) - Tonight, you will send out a private guard to investigate a target, learning if they are one of your Blackmailers or not, as well as granting death immunity to those that visit you. - 6 uses.
Order Execution (Night) - Send out an elite cadre of guards to attack a target, bypassing healing and death immunity. If your attack is successful, it will be broadcast to the court. Does not count as a visit. Only starting King has this ability. - 1 use.
Survive to see all your Blackmailers dead by the end of the game.

The Neutral King :shield:

Neutral Special
Tenacity (Passive) - Immune to occupation and redirection. If there are 4 or fewer people left alive, all your votes count double.
Decide Fate (Day) - You will decide the fate of the accused, pardoning or executing them on the spot. - 1 use.
Royal Guards (Night) - Send out your guards to give target player death immunity (can target yourself). - 4 uses.
Survive until the end of the game.

The Psycho King :shield:

Neutral Special
Mad Tenacity (Passive) - Immune to occupation, redirection and death at night. If there are 4 or fewer people left alive, all your votes count double.
Decide Fate (Day) - You will decide the fate of the accused, pardoning or executing them on the spot. - 1 use.
Berserker Guards (Night) - Send out your crazed guards to attack target player. - Infinite uses.
Defeat the Blue Dragon, the Cult and the Unseen.

Notes:

  1. Starting King will be 10% Selfish, 30% Evil/Blood, 60% Good.
  2. Blackmailers will always be Starting Mastermind/Cult Leader, Prince, and then 2 Random Blue Dragon other than Prince. Blackmailers do not know they’re Blackmailers. The Selfish King will see an X to the side of a dead player if they were a Blackmailer.
  3. The King not having Point Finger and instead having double votes as a passive should help Possessor win more often.
  4. The Blood King’s Cult Patronage does not grant occupation immunity to the Cult Leader, instead it prevents abilities that would occupy them, which means it works against Butler’s Wine and Concentrated Wine, Sellsword’s Intimidate and Drunk’s Happy Hour. Cult Patronage does nothing against redirection of any kind.

Attack king as nk n1 n2 and king dead.And king need protection would hard-countered at sorc game.

Could rename all ghese to “The Sovereign” or “The Ruler”, it wouldn’t be any hassle.

Possessor does not inherit passives when jumping, so it doesn’t help against possessor.

No? Because you grant people death immunity if they visit you? So Sorc wasting a circle on the king does nothing ?

I am referring to the Possessor’s inability to Point Finger when possessing the King, so having it be a passive that only activates when 4 or less are alive helps the Possessor possess King more effectively.

That gives them away as EK tho, so if they want to do that and can coordinate with Sorc, they’re more than welcome. Butlers don’t visit King so they wouldn’t die to the circle.

Yeah that is true but then again wouldn’t everyone visit king to gain death immunity.I mean no one would guard outed sheriff or pally.

Yes, that is on purpose. Not all classes are allowed to visit King, so they’re inherently vulnerable, and protective classes have to choose who to keep alive. This creates tension in the game as you have to decide who to protect. Note that while the King protects you back, they do nothing to help you win the game, not even as Good King, while classes like Sheriff/Paladin/Drunk are out there trying to find evils (which is how you win the game). Meanwhile Unseen/Cult have to decide what to do, since there’s a 40% chance the King can win with them, but a Good King left unchecked can run away with the game.

Blackmailers are always:

1: Starting MM/CL.
2: Prince.
3: Random BD other than Prince.
4: Random BD other than Prince.

It follows similar rules to Scorned target, only Selfish King can end up with a Hunter target, which I believe Scorned cannot.

It’s literally 1 use, so you only have to deal with it for 1 day. And with 40% chance of the King being not-Good, there are understandable reservations.

This just makes the current King worse and doesn’t fix any problems.

The fact that the King can essentially win any 1v2 by both doubling his votes for treason and execution makes him way too strong. Plus, with the Finger removed and only put this late makes the King far less effective in when it comes to his main purpose, which is being a leader in the court.

N-shot night immunity is extremely clunky in general. It’s frustrating to play against as you essentially need to waste an additional night to kill your target while to get past the current guards you need good predicting abilities to know when there won’t be a guard on the King.

This just encourages poor play in general. Investigative and Offensive classes should be going around checking scummy players and occupying them, not hiding in the King’s room at night. Support classes and Knights should be focusing around helping some of the leading members of the Blue Dragon rather than just healing or guarding the King, and Killer and Social classes either don’t visit or can’t target the King.

In short, this ability only encourages and rewards a selfish play-style and unlike the current King you can’t use your guards to protect town leaders as well.

Plus, this essentially makes it impossible to deal with a GK+Alchemist as an evil and it makes it too damn easy to win as Alchemist just by hiding in the King’s room.

And if a Butler finds out that the person who was immune to occupation last night was a CL then you’re essentially dead. This ability needs to be scrapped as a whole as it outs the King as a cultist.

Order Execution as a whole shouldn’t even exist.

TL;DR - This rework does nothing to emphasize the King’s social role but at the same time it encourages poor play such as playing selfish as a protective class and further encourages the whisper meta. Hard no.

I don’t think Private Matter belongs on King. However, I am also of the view that King needs to be reworked to add a bit of flavor and variety to the class.

Changing private matter to some other socially oriented ability (perhaps old Noble’s Royal Decree which prevents accusations on a target of your choice). Whisper meta makes the game boring for most players.

Would be cool to give evil king a frame Somehow

The EK would be better with a tailor ability to prevent his teammates from being seen by Sheriffs and Paladins. Framing wouldn’t fit in as well with his kit as something like Brotherhood/Dark Wisp.

Tbh I just want a excuse to add more framing abilites
