Distancing is calling a wolf a wolf but without the intention to lynch them. This is clearly not what Soul was doing, simply because his arguments, although fallacious, are characteristics wolves look for in villagers when scouting out for mislynch targets, not actual wolfy traits they’ve noticed in their partners.
