Comparing mafia to town tendancies is not scumreading? I thought scumreading was the act of deducing one’s alignment based off of their speech.

What I’m trying to say is that you’re trying to apply one specific meta to everyone that won’t necessarily work. Sure, it’s consistent for other people, but who’s to say it’ll work for every single person you play with?
Scumreading isn’t just comparing to town tendencies. It’s looking at tone and trying to read intentions.

It’s notable that he was specifically memeing by repeatedly claiming scum. This is in fact a thing that scum is capable of doing; see for example Ritual Mafia 3, where James hardclaimed Shaman as Shaman and got away with it.

Yes. You are comparing town + scum to decide whether or not their tone is something a town would say or mafia would say. You’re reading whether or not a mafia would intend that to happen or a town would.
