I don’t think that assumption follows – Italy was always going down at the point when Italy voted him IIRC, so it would have been fairly easy for scum to try to hop on him for the cred and/or so that the convert-if-applicable could be promoted and get a kill (which CRich being jailed would prevent)

okay, looking back at when the vote happened, it was before CRich started literally openwolfing, but he was … pretty clearly scum … at that point, like, I doubt he was ever going to manage to recover from this level of failure of a reactiontest:
