[SFoL] SFoL 63 - Triple Threat: Virtuous - Game Over (4/26) - Blue Dragon (evils) win!

I will admit it would have been a risk, but a risk that would have won town the game after my screw up

and from the pov of literally any other villager, they don’t know that

I mean it’s not like you were entirely unable to access the forums

you were online on the forums in the hours before action deadline and didn’t submit

I would hope you wouldn’t forget again but town can’t rely on that, even under the assumption that you were town, because of what had already been shown

That’s true, but after I went to sleep that night I just forgot about submitting my action. I think it would have been neat to have been notified a few hours before the deadline

It was discussed in spec chat iirc, but the hosts couldn’t do it as it would be biased (because they had not done that for everyone previously)

it’s not their responsibility to ensure people remember night actions

the part about notifying people?

yes the part about notifying people

i actually had a post where i talked about that but i completely forgot about the possibility
i made several mistakes this game unfortunately

tbh I feel like you are kind of deflecting the blame onto others for pushing you

When it was entirely justified.

I think your execution is, like, 95% just on you for forgetting the action and failing to prove yourself. And I don’t really think it’s that… tasteful to focus on them pushing you for not confirming yourself when the major error happened when you did not submit.

Just my take :man_shrugging: but it feels like you are trying to find other things or people to blame when I think that your execution specifically is on you

Public Service Announcement

If the village can’t find you as town and you get misyeeted, assume it’s your fault rather than theirs. The village is uninformed. They don’t know your role PM.

The best thing you can do is try your hardest to ensure that you do not get misyeeted. Especially when the game depends on it.

In this game, it was about gorta resolving mechanically.

This exact reasoning motivated me to trueclaim under pressure on day 3, because I didn’t want the village to tinfoil me and possibly even misyeet me as a result of me playing selfishly. (It still happened in a slightly different way, but that is beside the point.)

You just have to accept that “okay, they are not finding me, I must be doing something wrong.” Hell, even faking things is acceptable if it will make people not misyeet you! Just don’t go overboard and create a situation where your team is in an even worse position.

At several points I was like

“we aren’t really trying to solve who visionary is socially”

but i was too lazy to do it because we had a goddamn plan that only required villagers to send correct night actinos and yeet the openwolfer

Did I want to trueclaim? No. Did I think the push and suspicions on me were dumb? Yes. Was I annoyed by hypocrisy and stuff? Yes.

Did I care, in the end? No. Because doing the pro-town thing (trueclaiming) was the right thing to do then and there. And it would help people to stop tinfoiling me.

Sometimes, you just have to submit and understand that villagers might not realize you’re town. Help them.

PS. Self-meta isn’t a good method of helping them, because they don’t know if you’re feeding them lies or not. Only you truly know your ranges as both alignments, after all.

It’s not exactly the host’s job to make sure players are paying attention to the game.

Like, this is also why the “I’m obvious town” thing always annoys me. If someone is doubting your alignment, then clearly you are not obvious town for at least one person. You’re just trying to convince them of something that isn’t true in their eyes by… telling them lies, from their perspective. If they don’t think you’re town, they aren’t going to suddenly believe it just because you say you’re town.

Prove it. There are many ways to do that.

Also guys!!

As town it’s your job to look like an obvious townie

I know I’m picking on you Gorta but for example

You never get into towncore/get Tr’d by the majority of players but that’s because of your playstyle

People always forget about you, you never try to interact with others you just make 10 quotes long catchup posts and have 0 impact on the game as town

You have very little impact on the game and you’re not an obvious townie

You don’t check out either of these two boxes so you must put some effort into making good posts in order to get read as town

Personally, I read people based on how they approach reading others. That’s why I frequently ask people for detailed reads. It helps me see their progression as well.

If you don’t make reads, or if your reads are completely random, then I can and will scumread you.

Obviously there are exceptions to this, but that’s how I generally approach reading people.
