I’ve played in games where Mafia had a Dreaming God before and the God managed to carry by skilful use of their effects + bussing me with the help of a self-converter

So I take it that you hate most of FoL/ToL?

Read the title. I said Forum mafa, not Forum of Lies.

Knights
Observers
Hunter
Demon
Fool
Alchemist
Prince

Everything but self aware millers

Why are these things ok in FoL but not FM?

Personally my main issue with lynchers is the fact that they become kingmakers once they win as they’re outed, which by default mean that neither town nor scum will waste a day or a night getting rid of them.

A 1:1 trade is typically terrible to mafia in most cases. Elite bodyguards only work for town as 1:1 trades usually go for them.

As Ici said the solution to that is probably to have them leave town when they win

True, although I could see taking out the SK (who’s probably immune to your normal attacks) worth it if you don’t know who they are.

Because the overal power level in FoL means that a Jailor/Prince has the actual strength of a self-confirming Cop, or a bit above.

Agree with pretty much all of this

but duh

And also Ici is right the standard power of roles in FoL is insanely high so some of these things can work there despite being really OP elsewhere

Like Hunter is an omniscent PGO and that’s not even what makes it good

So if (hypothetically) I were to make a FM with lots of broken PR’s for both sides it could work?

yeah but you’d have to balance the hell out of it and even then it’d be swingy

Hence why I’m not actually doing that. It’s even against my design philosophy of making things as weak as is practical

Less is more most of the time.

Basically, FoL is the DotA2 of Forum Mafia.

I mean. Would you rather play as a bulletproof lightning rod or a standard doctor?

The idea is that weaker roles provide more challenges which overcoming can be fun. Of course too weak and you may lack the tools to overcome those challenges so there is a lower limit depending on the setup (hence why citizens don’t work in FoL even before you count conversion but they do work in FM)

Hmm tough call. I’ll take doctor cause getting struck is painful

Lightning Rod passively redirects all players to you
