The Queen, Blue Dragon's Double-Edged Sword

You didn’t thought. The system you used gives no one a mystery. All you have done is added an annoyance to a class.

The system allows for a conversion without the following communication. That’s the specific effect I wanted. I think it has mystery and tension, you don’t, and it doesn’t seem like there’s a middle ground here.

Where is the mystery? Everyone involved has just as much information as they normally would.

The added layer of difficulty in communication means that even if you know if the class has been converted or not, you don’t know if the plans will be carried out successfully. The fact that the communication can be intercepted or deciphered allows for the other party to make adjustments accordingly, adding to the uncertainty as to the result of the night’s activities.

Yes but how is that better than sellsword or sorcerer who can have all of that plus:

1: The challenge of finding each other

2: The possibility of BD faking the class to coax information from a known scum.

You can also get literally the exact same effect by simply getting an evil king elected

Either the Prince or the Queen spawn? OnO

That’s a very interesting idea!

Interesting != Good. We are trying to make good ideas not necessarily interesting ideas.

There might be something interesting in a character that needs set-up time to perform a delayed action. Perhaps they can place an effect on a character that has a specific trigger, and then leave it there, the way the Mercenary’s Shield works now. A quick example:

Gem of Life (Night) - You leave a gemstone charged with healing magic on a player’s room. The gem triggers when the player is attacked, or begins the night poisoned or bleeding. If this ability is used while the gemstone is still active, it will move the existing one into another player’s room. - 3 uses

Gem of Poison (Night) - You leave a gemstone charged with poison on a player’s room. The gem triggers when the player leaves their room, poisoning them. If this ability is used while the gemstone is still active, it will move the existing one into another player’s room. - 1 use

Gem of Darkness (Night) - You leave a gemstone charged with shadows on a player’s room. The gem triggers when the player is the target of an investigation effect, preventing it. If this gem triggers, the target’s visits will be undetectable. If this ability is used while the gemstone is still active, it will move the existing one into another player’s room. - 2 uses

Gem of Shielding (Day) - You will crush a protective gemstone to prevent all visits to you. - 2 uses.

Just an example of how the mechanic could work.

Ergo why I’ve repeatedly said that the Queen’s converted class should be completely overhauled as OP has no idea how much impact KPN has on social deduction games. There’s a very good reason why no other Unseen or Cult class baring the Assassin and the Cult Leader could kill. Giving the evil factions an extra or god forbid two extra KPN would make the game too scum-sided. Even if it was only by chance this would cause too many games to be decided because the Queen got converted and ended up prematurely making BD lose majority from her abilities.

The good ideas come from the interesting ones.

When someone tries to become the king people ask them for their class so that would not make a big difference.

btu they’re mechanically confirmed

What?

What?

Or just keep the word King on the player list regardless if it’s a King or Queen, but still show the gender of the King itself to the King and use different portraits based on both gender and alignment.

Even then, many women in history have used the title of King rather than queen, so a female King isn’t too out of the ordinary.
