“Just for being? You make it sound like I am no more than a discriminatory killer who kills for sport. I do not plan on killing anyone anymore unless it’s a necessity. I had to kill cultists or I’d be killed.”
She rolled her eyes, as you couldn’t see. You started to feel a lot of obstacles as she approached the village herself was talking about.
“So this place was burnt down. Quite recently.”
She proceeds to lead him out of the village, and towards what seemed to be a chapel with no entrances.
You find Richard in the dining hall, not chowing down on the wide assortment of breakfast foods displayed across from him, but reading the newspaper instead. It seems as if he was waiting for you to arrive. It does not seem like the news today is any more pleasant than yesterday’s.
“Burned down? Who would do such a terrible thing? Surely it was an accident… Or perhaps someone did it in anger? Feel free to teach me anything” He hadn’t ventured out of adiart or the forest before so the unfamiliar territory would make it difficult to navigate back to in the future
He has way more time to read newspapers than I did. He sat on the smaller table at his side and took something to eat.
“Good morning, my friend”
He took a peek at the newspaper.
“Oh my dear god Alnester. I just convinced them not to sabotage the seaways and they decide to start a war.”
(technically adiart is the name of the entire kingdom so you should still be in adiart )
“Probably some raider group.” She says as she takes your hunting knife without your notice, cutting her own hand to press the blood against the stone wall. A wornout rune appeared that should be visible even to the boy, it sliding away from their path and closing as soon you two passed through it.
“Good morning, Vilhelm.”
He folds the newspaper and puts it aside.
“Declaring war on us when we don’t have a king… Those clever bastards. Anyway, we shouldn’t start the day with this bleak talk, let’s go to the capital and see the status ourselves.”
“Oh, it was amidst of my plans. I went to have a talk with Lars, but instead ended up playing guardsmen.”
He gets up the chair as he finishes eating.
“We need a replacement as soon as possible, even if the king shows up on the next hour.”
The rune seemed to shine in his mind as he felt the floor surface continue to change. Stepping forwards, he seemed to have lost his fears… Yet it was merely a front to try and make himself seem strong “Where are we? What is going to happen here exactly?”
“Indeed, but who to play the part? I positively don’t want to be king, most of the nobles loathe my guts.”
Richard follows suit
“I am good seen, though, and I should take priority over most other nobles if I can convince Lars that I would be a better pick” He looks back with shining eyes, as contrariating his tone of voice.
“I already told you I can’t say the specifics, even if our gods have chosen the place. I am going to investigate that mark of yours, as I told you that I would.”
“I welcome you to do what is needed there… This mark has been confusing me and it would be good to learn about it… Is it possible to get my vision back? I’d like to see this place for myself”
“No, it isn’t.” She says simply as she seemingly leads you downstairs, looking where the torches used to be until she finally one that could be salvaged, lightning it to her own eyes. The scriptures at the sides of the walls were offuscated from her view as a background element, but you could see them as you did with the one at the front.
Richard nods in approval, although he is a bit taken aback by the force of your enthusiasm.
“There aren’t many nobles who have such knowledge about Adiart’s inner workings like you do.”
“Thank you” He hugs you by the side and mounted his horse, noticeably differently from the one he mounted upon — it was no sherlock work, as his horse was white and this one had the color of granite.
Speaking fairly loudly as if doing a reading of the scripture, he said word after word aloud trying to work out why he was led into the location, he even attempted to speak to the voices of the gods in his mind, almost pleading to be able to know more “This cannot be… Why can I see nought but words and that god”
(insert fast travel or wait for geyde?)
“Oh, so you can see the old scribes. I don’t think you would be able to understand what they mean or that the speaking will do something as you are not part of the cult, although… If it was to happen, then it shall be” She smiled back to the guy, even if he couldn’t see. “You are seeing what is crucial.”
(hey nivs is also DM wait for geyde? Since probably four different people are looking for your head
we could talk though)
