IIRC someone asked me about why Whys and Gorta aren’t the team.
I think Wind?

Yeah, gimme some time to get to that now that I’m back on track.
At least if yall are gonna kill me, let me leave yall with something.

I’d rather not die but it’s not MyLo so I’m not complaining.

Ahhh yes, they did here.

Perfect and since you quoted it, Wind will know that I’m formulating the reply now.
Thanks

I came to the conclusion of no Gorta and Whysper team because of interactions between the slots.

One of the reasons albeit a small one was Appel made a PoE with both Whys and Gorta in it when Whys and Gorta were both fairly active slots. I don’t think W!Appel would put attention on 2 active wolf slots just to save themselves.

On top of this, a short time afterwards they provided what seemed like a fake RT on Gorta without any follow up which would’ve made Gorta look suspicious on backreading. I feel like this would’ve been on purpose to make us consider Gorta as non town. Which furthered my townread on them.

Whys and Gorta’s reactions during the moments after the reveal until ~half way through D3 didn’t feel like at all theatre. Whys and me sorta bounced back off each other multiple times waiting for others to come into thread and the only one who I could see any theatre with might’ve been Wind due to their interactions about the poetry and it felt perhaps unnaturally calm? Idk.

When Gorta finally arrived, Whys didn’t seem too tentative to interact with them and with nothing feeling forced via either party it feels genuine and so unlikely to be W/W. I’d think if they were wolves it’d have felt a bit more awkward and stiff.

@Whysper I’m curious about your take on my “wolfy personality” considering you are a fresh set of eyes

I don’t like changing my tone and speech to make town feel comfortable with me, and it helps my scum game to be less predictable, but what do you make of it? Is it just self destructive?

Actually I might have answered my own question.

Thanks anyway

Hi EVO. Oh, I’m not exactly sure what it is. I think it’s that you seem to jump around to various suggestions but make things sound cryptic. And if you also think it helps make your scum games less predictable, then that also makes you less predictable as town. Which I think goes to my general impression as well.

However, I’m starting to get a better idea of your personality. And if you do happen to flip town in the end, then at least I’ll understand even better.

I had a similar thing with ATNo. In my first game with him, which was also my first Forum Mafia game, I thought of his personality as wolfy too. I thought he was the Evil King in the FoL game we played. Just the way he made his reads and worded things got me suspicious. But as I’ve played with him, I know his general personality and it’s helped me avoid SRing him when he’s just town. Like that helped in the Deus Ex game we played together later.

@EVO Oh, just realized I didn’t reply directly to your message nor tag you.

I’m back!

so I went through Gorta’s ISO like EVO suggested, and he’s right that Gorta says almost nothing about PKR except that he’d rather look at ATN instead.
however, I think this might just be because ATN is Gorta’s top scumread and not because Gorta is distancing from PKR.

Gorta seems pretty consistent in his thoughts on ATN and at least I can see his progression of thoughts throughout the day on ATN. While I would like to hear his opinion on PKR more specifically, I don’t think this necessarily makes Gorta look bad, especially considering Appel’s weird case on him. Just like in this game, Appel compared Gorta to the Pokémon 9er game when they were wolves together in Umineko and I’m starting to think that’s basically the only reference she has for scum!Gorta. It’s not the strongest comparison and I don’t know if she ever makes it as town, but this is the second time I’ve seen her do it as a wolf lol. Last time it was more or less a valid comparison since Gorta actually was a wolf (but so was Appel, so lol TMI), but I’m not convinced about this time. If anything, it’s more likely she’d try the same trick again in an effort to spew Gorta as a wolf, but it looks more like it backfired because she completely dropped the push on him here. She did drop the push on him in Umineko once Marl picked up on her case and actually started a wagon on Gorta, but here there was no wagon and she just kind of dismissed Gorta later in the day without much commentary.

I’m nowhere near moving Gorta into locktown territory, but I don’t really see anything too wolfy from him. I’ve seen him sort of tunnel as town, so if he’s been ignoring PKR because of his focus on ATN then it wouldn’t really surprise me.

I am here now

I mean, I was active for a good portion of this game

of course, it worked so well last time

I know you didn’t ask me, but I’d like to chime in nonetheless!

The only other game I played with you was Shortnight 2, and I don’t think I got the chance to interact with you there, although I remember thinking on a surface level your tone was wolfy. I feel like you haven’t been that wolfy here, maybe because I’ve gotten the chance to see more content from you than in the previous game, and at the very least I think I understand where you’re coming from on a number of your points. That being said, I don’t know how you act as a wolf, so I’m not sure what you’re capable of pulling off. I’m not a huge fan of tonereads because I find myself to be generally very inaccurate on determining alignments from them, even if they kind of bias my opinion one way or another (as exemplified by my extremely low-level read of you in Shortnight lol).

I understood your reasons for voting PKR after you explained them; I could’ve made the assumption that you agreed with ATN’s accusation and that you thought he had well-founded reasons, but since it’s just as easy for a wolf to agree on a read without an explanation as it is for town, I can never be too sure

I’m going to watch a movie, but I will be back

when you come back, would you mind giving an opinion on PKR’s slot?

I will

I didn’t quote all of them, but PKR had a lot of focus on a theoretical Popcorn jump earlier in the game. I was skimming backwards and saw his later posts before the earlier posts and thought he was TMI’ing Popcorn as a jump, but once I scrolled all the way up I did see him mention he thought the slot had jumped, so it doesn’t look as bad as I initially thought. But there was still a lot of jump speculation from him (although since I’m ISOing I can’t really compare how much everyone else speculated on this, and I know I did, too). He even mentioned more recently that he still thinks Popcorn was likely a jump but that he was less certain on a Sulit conversion.

His handling of Marl/ATN’s slot has been interested. A lot of it’s been based on how Marl read him (and didn’t recognize him), and he expressed uncertainty earlier on whether Marl was a wolf or just misreading him. I know Marl’s pretty good at reading PKR, so when he switched from an SR on Joy_Moon to a TR on PKR, I just sort of ignored PKR for a while because I assumed he’d be easy to resolve later.
I don’t really want to accuse him of “coasting” for his activity drop, since I was also in a game with him that just ended and I know his activity dropped there, too, since he was ill. But on the other hand, I’m having trouble following some of his reasoning, which I think could be indicative of scum!PKR.

Before he gave his tiered readlist, this was the last readlist I saw from him (after which ATN accused him of coasting).

This seems to match up more or less with his tiered list, except that I’m included in two potential scumteams now (one with Gorta, and one with Whysper) despite not being in the original PoE. As I understand, he was just listing all scumteams that he hadn’t eliminated, regardless of likelihood, but it still feels somehow off to me.

This is his list of possible wolf teams with Appel, which was then followed by his tiered readlist. I’m still trying to make sense of all the teams and I might have more questions to ask him about this before EoD. I know he answered my question already on why he eliminated a Gorta/Whysper team, and for that matter I think it did make sense, but I’m still not sure why Uni is so low in his readlist (at a 5), considering Uni was more or less spewed town from Appel’s flip. There is one thing that I think could correlate with this, but I’m not going to bring it up quite yet.

I keep getting interrupted here, so I’m going to wrap this up:

I don’t think it’s the worst ISO I’ve seen but it doesn’t really look great, mostly because I get the feeling PKR was more focused on resolving jumps and figuring out where the jumper would have gone, as opposed to reading people for being towny/scummy in the current thread. He’s been more dedicated to making reads today, but that’s likely because everyone’s focus has turned to him now.

While I don’t necessarily think it makes sense for a wolf to be hunting down a jump target, it’s also not what I think was the most productive way to go about solving slots, since at some point I realized it’s better to rely less on backreading and more on reading after the identity reveals (although it took me until I backread the entirety of D1 to realize exactly how pointless it was). The fact that PKR waited until so late to produce a readlist that wasn’t based on jump speculation - literally until he ended up in the spotlight - is definitely questionable and pretty wolfy to me.

I gotta go back to studying, bleh
and I’ll probably be out during the evening, so no guarantees but I’ll try to be back before EoD.
but just in case, I’ll leave something of a legacy post here:

Wind's readlist

Wind
Uni

Whysper
Gorta

EVO
ATN

PKR

I’m seeing a major problem in my readlist, and maybe it’s because I’ve been studying for exams all week and therefore been less active here, but I’m having a hard time pinpointing anyone wolfier than PKR right now. I’ll be on the lookout for an agenda pusher for sure after today, because I don’t think they can get by anymore with coasting or echoing the consensus. It’s probably a deepwolf or powerwolf, and most likely they’ll have to push agenda which I think will be pretty noticeable. I think if PKR flips wolf, ATN will move up in my readlist. GTH if there’s a deepwolf in my townreads it’s Whysper, but I don’t want to tinfoil her today. I don’t think Uni is ever a wolf because of wagonomics moving off Appel and onto Uni. I would definitely reevaluate Gorta, EVO and ATN depending on PKR’s flip, but so as not to preflip, I’ll wait until after EoD.
