Things that Scum do

Some things I see players do that often turn out to be scum .

  1. Ask the king his opinion before doing an execute , or state they are siding with the king . Early game this for me usually is “a tell” the player is scum . I think they are attempting to get someone else to take responsibility for the Execute , it makes them look less suspicious if they follow a King into an execute.

  2. Neuts out !, this used to be everyone but its edging now towards being a scum shout , a lot of bd are realising that alchemists in particular is not always an insta kill . Especially if they have been proven before they get to the stand .
Early in a game a few days ago the observer pointed to a neutral and they got him up , but I had confirmed him as alchemist as king and asked to pardon , 5 executed 6 saved , 4 of the 5 executers turned out to be scum .

  3. Princess Claim but everyone you ever checked is dead …

4 . Court Wizard claim with random Ice wards from N1 , not always sus but not really a tactic most CW employ .

  1. Sherrif/Paladin claims , that still haven’t found anything by n10

6 Knight claims that are alive after n6

7 Butler Claims …

Any of you guys got other stuff you look out for ?

I mainly use voting patterns to find scum. Actions speak a lot louder than words:

If they are one of the first to vote someone up but then do not guilty, and the person flips BD they are likely scum.

People changing their vote before hand when no new information has come to light is likely nervous scum deciding if they will be mislynched without their vote.

People who stand for King and win despite not claiming or saying anything useful all game are likely scum. I’d start pressing the people who voted for him immediately (not the King himself though).

These are just a few. There are obviously far more obvious ones like not voting scum-buddies but most decent players avoid the obvious ones.

if their log is filled with accurate information, then they are good. Only a really bad player would claim butler if they cannot occ.

there are 2 main strategies among Cw:

  1. random ice ward
  2. leave day 1

I love butler claims. My fave move is to see when others claim they were occupied when they get put on the stand then modify my log to reflect that.

That second option is worth a report

Honestly my gut instincts are usually enough to tell me scum from BD. I just trust whoever seems BD and push whoever doesn’t. That usually leads to a solid game for me, personally.

Honestly everyone’s gut instincts that I am evil if I am extreme sarcastic.

The devs I’m assuming want you to have fun and if i get noble then imma leave day1 and you can report me all you want but I’m not sitting through that shit. Ranked games would stop people leaving as there should be some kind of cooldown like other games have.
People need to understand what throwing actually is instead of using it for every little thing/mistake that happens. I really feel sorry for the guy that has to go through the reports.

Also is it just me that finds it weird you guys using the word ‘scum’ or am I missing something here.

Uh, leaving while alive is actually super against the rules

And yes it’s just you, scum is a very widely used term.

its nice to see you are happy to ruin everyone else’s game but would sit through torture for a ranked point

for starters my point about ranked games is that the cooldown would stop people from leaving not a ranked point but in ranked it would be a very different environment and even the most boring classes would play a role in the outcome of the game which would be more important in ranked as everyone will be a tryhard wanting to rank up.
And just a FYI I have only left the game once on day 1 and that was because i had just played an entire game as noble and cba for that again but i would still do it again and have no problem admitting it.

Idk how something can be super against the rules, it either is or isn’t. Anyways I think that the rule is naive to expect and there’s a reason why other games don’t just go ‘hey guys by the way your not allowed to leave…k thnx…’ give people a reason to stay or have some form of automated punishment for leaving. The dev’s are changing the game alot and I’m sure in the future I’m not going to want to leave when i get noble but until then I’m not promising anything.

as for the word ‘scum’ it just seems unnecessarily offensive so i thought it meant something different.

Uh, they are though. #NEUTSOUT applies until an NK is dead. No exceptions.

It’s in Unseen/Cult’s interests that 2 people die a day. More deaths = less days to majority

I mean, I usually vote with the King because he has more information than I do.

If I’m a Drunk I know… nothing most of the time. People aren’t whispering me stuff, I’m trying to stay under the radar so I can protect things.

Welp, maybe don’t trust King too much…

Especially in late game .-.

Sure late game is one thing, but if there is a vote early I’m probably going to follow the guy with info if I don’t have any and he’s getting whispers and info.

I’m just saying it’s not an evil move, it’s more a “I don’t have any info” move.

It’s kinda both tbh

announcing to the world you are following the king I see most of the time from evils. would certainly put you in my radar .

  1. there is no automated punishment for leaving because some people crash or have to do something really important

  2. if you leave the game because you got a class you dislike then you are a terrible person
