I could probably advance this story to prove nukes point by adding something about the story audience getting older but I lost my inspiration. This is what happens when adhd people get bored lmao. They develop in-depth analogies

Ok and most of us do have TOL experience, like I have like 250 hours of TOL, yeah that might not mean much compared to some of yall, but saying a forum mafia game we honed and crafted in inspiration of the game that has us on the forums, cause honestly I think 95% of people here are because of the game originally. Doesnt have any idea how TOL is played or know what idea changes could lead to it to be a better game is just wrong. Like social deduction games are why we are here. That’s what got us into TOL what got us into FOL. Like u cant put a blanket statement that we have no clue how the TOL is played or have any clue on how TOL needs to be changed, cause we play FOL. Dont just say you dont know the TOL experience when a majority of us play it/ played it.

Like I said, I never said all of us fol players don’t have tol experience. But some of us have none, or at least played very few games in the last months.
FoL and ToL are too differently to only trying to change ToL on the base of FoL, without the experience of ToL. But if you know both games, you can learn from each other.

Part of the issue is that there is no space or resources to hire a balance dev for ToL currently.
So a lot of the most sensible things that have already been altered in FoL were made because the hosts can make whatever changes they see fit.

ToL is just different. ToL will never get a balance patch more often than every couple months until if and when a balance dev is hired, which currently there are no resources for. It is just so much easier for hosts to implement changes into FoL (nearly all beneficial, I will admit) than it is to alter the ToL game to such an extent, just because ToL just takes so much more work to upkeep, sustain, and operate.

Wait

How much money does the developer get from throne of lies? Is it enough to sustain a living barely or is it actually a lot of money.

I have abolutely no idea.
All I do know is that Tryphon told me he was very recently added to the team, but there still simply are no resources to add a balance dev, or add balance dev responsibilities to any current dev’s workloads.

Yes, it’s a lot of work, I know that on my own

Of course you would. You were the hardest working guide i had ever seen, at least from what I could perceive.

I remember when you nagged me for inviting you to a game once haha

you were reviewing reports then

Sorry  I have to find a good balance between work and playing. Sometimes I end up with over 20 hours per week (+ playing) :eyes:

This thread is the pinnacle of why I should ad block all non-FM/off topic/roleplay sections

Just it being an adaptation doesn’t make it better or worse. Frequently the movie can outshine the book. Not saying that this is the case here however, but also saying it is not not the case. :upside_down_face:

I think this thread is comparing apples to oranges a bit however, so in that respect I do agree.

There are things we can learn from each other however and we should! For example the Archer/Arbalest is basically ToL ready in my opinion. hint hint.

I know that you folks may have moved on from this topic, but could you give a specific example of anglesniping please? I am definitely not expecting it to be exhaustive, as you have mentioned that not all types of anglesniping may have been discovered, but I would at least want one good example to give me a clear idea of what it is, if that’s not too much for you. Thanks a lot.

Out of curiosity I searched for Archer here on the forums and … it’s essentially a Blue Dragon class that places up to 3 Walking Bombs? How is that balanced for ToL? The entire game would revolve around The Archer.

The easy example of angleshooting, would be like checking someones profile in a game after the day began and saw that they havent been online within the past 24 hours, so they couldnt be the night killer
