it’s a copypasta

Yeah that’s because you can refresh the webpage to grab the page from the site which clears any edits you’ve done client-side

I thought about this before the game started for like 30 minutes while in a dream trance and have thought of a concept of allowing screenshots of rolecards while maintaining game balance before. I landed on the conclusion that Arete made before that it’s actually 100% antitown to paste your rolecard in the open.
This also lead me to conclude that scum rolecards are probably all on discord. I’d imagine Icibalus invited everyone to a forum PM with a discord link then when they’ve all joined the discord he kicked them from the forum PM to prevent people screenshotting forum DMs of mafia chats, or whatever.

In a sense I don’t believe we can use rolecards as a method of solving alignments
But what we can use them for is what abilities they would have as town; and plot night actions.
Which… is completely countered if mafia know it.
So rolecards have to be sent through private comms to actually have a +EV town impact

Exciting

Also I know a tiny bit about computing
I wish Jane was here to correct me, I’m not entirely sure but how I’d explain it

You edit the page (HTML/CSS/whatever) on client side through ‘inspect element’; the page is what the server sends your computer and your browser interprets it.

But, if you refresh the page, your computer gets the new images
This is how cache works as well. Cache saved the page so your computer doesn’t need to download it again.

First time you visit a page; let’s say you’ve wiped your cache or you bought a new computer

Your PC: “Hey, server, can I get your page?”
Server: “Sure; here’s the webpage. And he’s the cachable content that you can download so it runs faster the next time!”

Now, if you visit that page again

Your PC: “Hey, server, can I get your page?”
Server: “Sure; here’s the webpage. But you’ve got data I sent you before cached, so you only need these files to update the webpage.”

I wish Jane was here I might be spouting complete nonsense

nerd

So if someone changes there PFP here, basically the server tells your computer the cache is now invalid and to download the new PFP
So if someone doesn’t change their PFP your page will load quicker

No clue what you just said, have fun nerd

so basically you’re saying that if you inspect element something, it’s only changed on your end and only temporarily, as soon as you change something where it needs the cached info it goes back to the old data?

Yes
Because whenever you refresh the page the server notices your computer didn’t process that data correctly and corrects it

Shut up nerd

okay that makes sense thanks
