Let’s use k-levels - how many steps are app thinking ahead by?

  1. k = 0: flat-out claiming. kinda stupid.
  2. k = 1: RT, to see whether I go along with it
  3. k = 2: using an RT to pocket

I think people on this site are generally at k = 1 or k = 2. And because the RT was so obvious and blunt, rather than being intricate and testy, it did not feel like k = 1. Thus I believe that Apprentice used the RT to pocket.

problem is that 1) people are usually not that smart and 2) with higher number of k levels you’re expecting the other person to be at the level below you

so starting at k = 3 things start becoming impractical
