I’m working from the assumption that Captain is a wolf. If they are, I think that from pre-flip associatives they’re probably buddies with Geyde.

If we have a Geyde/Captain team then the main thing to explain is why they’d both defend me in weak ways;

I think this can simply be explained by the pure explanation of both of them trying to get villagecred. Not only that, but they WOULD both defend me simply because, in a roundabout way, it’s distancing but in a different sense;

They’re distancing themselves from each other by not interacting and instead weakly pushing other players.

Well, they know I’m not at any real risk of being lynched, it’s RVS and they shouldn’t interfere if they think that it’s genuinely going to be a lynch (assuming they’re wolf).

I think the cred they are reaching for is pre-flip villagecred (the only kind, obviously) since from their perspective it “shows a mindset against anti-village actions” and are hoping somebody else thinks about that.
