At this point I can’t tell whether it was because of trounce or what.

Since the game is “tainted”, I’ll quote what I said:

This was also the case with the Newbie Hydra that was my first forum game, nothing that can be done with it apparently. None of the newbies spoke at all except me and the results were obvious, the experienced players played for us.
