Really, the biggest problem with Marl I see rn is that Marl has been trying hard to push villagers all game, yet still asks to be “sheeped or voted out.” That’s not helping the village if he’s town, and it hasn’t helped the village. He’s still making the game about himself at various points, and putting us in a deadlock where we supposedly have to either vote out him, or the person he’s wolfreading.
Now, this is pretty much suicidal play as W, but it really has worked for him so far, and it has killed numerous villagers. I’d expect town!Marl to realize this and change his approach, yet here he is today, this time pushing Zone and calling to be resolved by voting him off if we vote out Zone next. This is outright nonsensical of him, actually, since we’re one misyeet away from MyLo - and if he’s town, we lose the game if we listen to him and Zone’s town. Again, this is coming from someone who’s had the biggest hand in pushing villagers throughout the game (next to WWA, but I’m convinced WWA is just town and her approach hasn’t been like this most of the time). I know Marl’s tunnely, but I don’t think town!Marl is beyond subduing himself for the village’s benefit.
We agree on our PoEs, but this still bothers me a lot, especially if Zone is V as well. It’s been a consistent pattern that’s pushed us further away from solving and winning the game. And I do realize that he hasn’t been entirely like this today; his push on Zone and the way he approached it is only a part of what he’s done today. But the fact his play pattern has remained mostly stagnant, his results have been terrible, and yet his conviction has not fluctuated much, is very concerning.
I do appreciate the fact he dialed it back a bit today, but those tendencies are still present, and I don’t want to lose the game because we sheep w!Marl all game. It’s possible he dialed it back out of sheer necessity.
I’m townreading him mostly on the grounds that his play wouldn’t be this suicidal if he were a wolf, but I’m starting to have second thoughts.
Admittedly, this wagon stinks, though, and the Leafia wagon is pure. If Marl is a wolf, the votes I’m really wrong about the game, and I mean really wrong. Like, City/January 1+ wolves wrong.
